Topic: RE: I don't think I am normal...
Hi Shannon, Most days I can tolerate almost any food. Raw veggies in small amounts do not give me any grief and I have been eating salad for a while now. I can understand your worry. I remember being very bored with limited food choices. On the other hand though, with my menu fully open, I am really struggling with staying on track....well, more like derailing I think. I wouldn't necessarily want the frustration that came with limited food choices, but I also think that, in my case, it would have given me more time to redevelop my poor eating patterns. I need to take a step back and get back to a focus on protein. I hate to say that I envy how you are staying focused on an appropriate menu, because I don't want to sound like I am minimizing your concern. I think your weight loss has been remarkable and you sound like you are paying very good attention to your body and what it needs. Good luck with your journey. Lori

1.Are you shooting for your doctors goal weight or your own or are they the same? My Nut has set my goal at 150 I want to get down to 145 and how far do you have to go to reach it? I have 50 more to get to my goal 2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now? I'm still having problems getting in all the water I should. 3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis? My goal for excercise is just to do it daily, but what I have been doing is water aerobics 3x's a week, and curves 3-4 times a week 4.Do you listin to music when you work out? yes 5.What are you going to do this year that you have never done before that you wanted to, but could not due to your weight? Well I am going last part of May with husband to Manitoba (Flin Flon), he is going hunting and I am going fishing...I just want to go to Canada....and Then will be going to spend a few weeks at the beach and dont want to be uncomfortable. Gonna hit New York up also, I want to be able to walk around NYC without getting out of breath or tired. 6.Do you ever regret having WLS? As of this date I would say NO WAY! Just like most, wish I had of done it sooner, but just remember yall, it wasn't our time and it happened now for a reason. Good Luck all!! Glenda

Topic: I don't think I am normal...
Hi Guys, I am looking for a little insight here. I had my RNY on June 14, 2006. I have lost 117 lbs. It has slowed down some but I am still losing inches. Here is my questions, when I read the boards and look at what other people are eating I am very very limited still in my choices (by my own choice most of the time). I did have a few complications in the begining and a few trips back to surgery due to scar tissue blockages but an example would be I have had NO sugar, bread, pasta of any kind since the surgery. I eat very limited amounts of carbs and a normal day of eating would consist of B- egg Frittata (made in a muffin tin) with egg, ham, and cheese L- Lunchable (don't eat the crackers) just the turkey or ham and cheese S-2 laughing cow light squares D-small bowl of white chili (from curves cookbook) S-2 oz of beef jerky It seems to me that lots of people at my stage 6 months out have tried lots of different foods and are eating a wide range of things including salad and carbs but I am just afraid to try anything outside from low carb and high protein. I even saw someone that was also 6 months out suggest raw veggies to someone as a snack. I was shocked because my nut stated not until at least 9 months out. I don't miss the wide range of foods at all in fact when I crave now I crave protein but I just wondered what most people are eating at this stage. Thanks, Shannon

Topic: Awesome Excercise find!!!
Well I decided that I would venture up the attic last night and start doing some serious cleaning and throwing. going through boxes I came across a box from High school, yeah I am a pack rat!!! in the box I found some old excercise items or THINGS!LOL...you should see the bodysuits and tights you would roll !! I can't believe I actually wore these **!!! hand weights, ankle weights some sort of bands? vhs tapes and a TRUE GEM!!! a doorknob excerciser some of you may remember this one it was ropes with pulleys on it you attached it to the doorknob. Well last night I decided to try it out and I can tell you this! IT WORKS! BIG TIME! how could I know? I can't move today! I used muscles I am not using in my everyday workout and I LOVED that! not the pain..lol..but the fact that I am targeting other areas. I wanted to let you all know about this because I feel it is a great item! I remember using it in high school when we didn't have the kinds of excercise equiptment that there is now and it really worked then too! I talked to my MIL and she said she saw it in a Dr.Leonards catalog,I went and did a search for it and I found it if is anyone is interested in it here is the link, if you can't click on it, copy and paste this into your address bar http://exercise-nutrition.drleonards.com/Exercise-Nutrition/Exercise-Equipment/Doorknob-Ex erciser/15789.cfm It is VERY CHEAP! only $7.99! and worth it,my motto is if you can feel it it works! I am actually going to buy another one as a back up "just in case". If anyone comes across anything that can be helpful, being equiptment, videos, gadgets etc...please post and share so we can all give em a try!! ((hugs)) Nancy

Topic: RE: I am now at a 7 week stall.
Oh hun I know how you feel!! I had surgery the same day you did and I have been stalled for 4 weeks now and I am getting really frustrated & discouraged! I did talk with my Doc about it and he told me this is normal and I should not let it get to me. Are you exercising? I know for me it's a really BIG part of my weight lose and I have not been to the gym in 3weeks because I have been out of town! All I can really say is keep doing what you have been doing and the weight will start coming off again! I am also eating about 700 cal per day; do you count your carbs? I don't let myself eat anymore than 60carbs per day! Beet of luck!

Topic: RE: Holidays'R Over!Roll Call Back to the board!
Nancy- I have been a slacker and haven't started Roll Call yet this year. Thank you so much for starting it. I haven't been inspired on what to write or ask yet and I should at least get on here and babble like I usually do. 1.Are you shooting for your doctors goal weight or your own or are they the same?and how far do you have to go to reach it? I am going for my goal weight, 150. My doctor says about 170-180. Heck no, I want to be a skinny chick for once in my life I still have quite a bit to get to my goal, at least 90 lbs. left to go. UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! 2.What is the hardest part of your jouney that you are experiencing right now? Girlfriend, I hear you on the grazing carbs! urghhhhhhh......I also fight a vicious fight with the Head Hunger Monster. Does it ever get better?????? 3.What excercise goals/times are you reaching for on a daily basis? My goal is to exercise at least 5 days a week. Most days I am on the treadmill walking/running 2-3 miles, ok, usually it is 2 miles lately. 2 Days a week I lift weights, one of those days with my trainer and then another day I have a group that I run/walk with. I think that is my favorite day, I get the most encouragement and inspiration those days. 4.Do you listin to music when you work out? if so what is your favorite song/cd's? I do listen to music if I am at the gym, actually whatever they usually have on there. When I am on the treadmill at home I watch tv, which winds up being Rachel Ray. Maybe that is part of my problem, running towards that food still 5.What are you going to do this year that you have never done before that you wanted to, but could not due to your weight? I would really love to be able to wear a bikini. I have a ways to go before I can do that, but then again, look how far I have come in the past months, it could very much be possible. I would love to go to an amusement park this summer too. It has been years since I have been because I hated being so embarassed that I would be told I had to get off the rides. 6.Do you ever regret having WLS? NEVER!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!! Nancy, you are the BEST!!!! We have to get this board moving again, and I will do my part. Jeanna
