Topic: RE: Weight loss to date?
120 lbs since initial consultation...surgery June 8th. Its been a long haul and yea I'm having more difficulty with eating lately. I'm still trying to figure out how to eat best...eat, fill up, and not be hungry in an hour. I teach so its hard to get the water and vitamins in like I should - and to eat slowly and correctly. I know - making excuses - but regardless of how difficult it is, I am really working on doing it right! I am determined not to make the same mistakes I've made before...but it is really hard. Good luck...
Topic: Weight loss to date?
Hello all. Since we are all about the surgery date on this board I was wondering how much weight has been lost to date? My surgery date was June 9 and I am down 111 lbs. Is this typical for any of you others? I also find I seem to nibble all the time now if I am not drinking. I push protein first and still try to avoid starches but seem to get hungry now. Any suggestions?

Michelle, Thank you so much. I"ve been scared to try it. Something about the kernels getting stuck. good to know you didn't have a problem. How are you doing otherwise?
The only thing I had before my 6 months that I wasn't supposed to have was some steak about 2 weeks early. Yum.
Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

I eat it. I started eating it probably way too soon after surgery but seem to be fine with it. We went to the movies Saturday and I had some. The only difference is I don't eat a whole large popcorn by myself anymore.

Cyndi,
We lost everything in Katrina so can understand the feeling of loss and grief. It will take some time but it sounds like he's young and so will recover. Of course it is hard on you too. How awful to lose those precious mementos of loved ones. I had paintings done by my mother too and of course all the photographs. My family, bless their hearts, put together an album for me which they all contributed to. That was one of the greatest gifts. After a tragedy like that one learns what is really important in life. Thank God they are okay. Time does heal.......eventually.
Good Luck to you all

Hi Kim,
Sounds like you're doing fine. When you say drinking do you mean wine, soft drinks or water? Did you have your surgery in June last year too? My husband had his in July and we just started sharing a glass of wine once a week when we go out for dinner. Other than that I'm sure you know we're not supposed to drink anything 15 min prior or 1 hour after eating so as not to wash down our food. However was told less than a juice glass of liquid with meals if you need it is okay.
Hope this helps.........continued good luck

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone is eating popcorn. I've heard we're not supposed to. Can do without the butter but would like some at movies .

Topic: Thanks everyone
I just wanted to thank everyone for their responses to my question about drinking with meals. I cannot tell you how nice it is to be able to ask questions and get helpful responses and not just a bunch of lecturing. We all have our struggles and none of us are ignorant regarding the surgeries we've had..but it doesn't make us perfect or give us steel will-power. Knowing what you "should" do and then what you feel capable of are two different things... So thanks!
Blessings,
Kim

I don't. It's not something I miss terribly. I find I get bloated like I'm dumping if I try to drink with my meal and I don't like the feeling at all. So I wait. I doubt it's a huge deal if you do. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Everything in moderation.
