Hey there...Just read your post. I usually check this site once a year or so. I am so glad to see you are doing well and maintaining. I am still heavier than I would like...but not as heavy as I was...so that is a blessing. Keep up the good work and thanks for posting!
On 6/20 I will be 9 years out from RNY. I am happy to report I have maintained my weight loss and all my labs look great except for low vitamin D which is getting rechecked next week. I attribute my success to going into this surgery thinking is was my last resort (9 years ago there are not the options there are today), and that I HAD to make it work. I spent a lot of time and effort working on my personal issues as well as learning everything I could about nutrition and over the past few years growing my own organic food, buying local and making things from scratch instead of buying a things pre-boxed/bagged/pre-made etc. I do eat out and try to do so only once a week, I do allow myself treats and I do love my carbs. For me, it was all about balance.
Next month I am 1 year out from my BA/BL and arm lift... I did have to get scar revision some on the arm liftwhich I am 2 months out from now and healing up nicely. I am hoping to get a thigh lift next year and my journey will be "complete".
I don't feel or look anything like the person I was 9 years ago. I will never forget where I came from because I do not want to go back but do feel very disconnected from the person I was. I am so happy to have accomplished so much these past 9 years and look forward to what the future brings!

I had surgery in June 2006, I never lost the weight I wanted to and have gained almost everything back. I am now a member of OA and realize I have a big issue with food. I'm not sure, please let me know if you have any thoughts on the revision after having gastric bypass or any surgery.
Thank you,
Elana
I am glad to hear you keep trying and won't quit. I have a friend that didn't make it to goal, started backsliding and just gave up. Its definitely something you have to keep working at for life no matter what point you end up at!
Now I am trying to make it thru recovery for BA/BL and arm lift. The arm lift recovery has been the pits.. slow going and a lot of work, but worth it... just ready to be all healed up!

Congratulations! That is wonderful. You should be very proud of your accomplishments!
Congrats on your maintained weight loss! I enjoy reading your updates! I had my surgery the same year as you. Never made it to goal and have been struggling to not gain it all back. Its my fault though...didn't take advantage of that first year loss. I was so in mourning that year. Thought I would never be able to eat "normal" again. Boy was I wrong! But I am not depressed about it...I just keep on trying. I won't quit! Thanks again for the updates.
Still alive and kicking. Its been 8 years now and all is well. Manitained my weight loss. 470 to start 215 today and holding.
Don’t forget – It’s not a diet. It’s a total lifestyle change…
Looks like I am the only one checking in :-)
Can you believe its been 8 years? Seems like yesterday I had surgery, but the person I was back them is light years away from the person I am now.
Happy to report I have maintained my loss. I am 2.5 years out from an extended TT and have a BL/BA, brachioplasty and laser skin tightening on my chin/neck area scheduled July 10th. I am looking forward to completing another step on this journey and hoping to have a thigh lift in the next 1-2 years and I will be done.

Hard to believe its been 7 years since I had surgery...it seems like a lifetime away. I am happy to report I am still maintaining my weight loss and my annual blood work is looking great! I faithfully take my vitamins every day which is super important. I had an extended tummy tuck back in November 2011 and am hoping to have a breast lift and arm lift later this year or the early part of next year. Hopefully a year or so after that I can get a leg lift and my transformation will be complete!
I have started to eat even more healthy moving towards a 'clean eating' lifestyle. Slowly my BF and I have started to make our own sauces and seasonings as well as baking our own bread. This year we planted a decent size garden and are going to try our hand at canning so we can enjoy our veggies year round. We are moving away from buying anything pre-packaged and anything processed. We have also ramped up our workout routines and work out at least 6 times a week running, biking, walking, yoga, weight training etc. For me, eating a healthy well balanced diet and exercise have been the keys to keeping the weight off. I still enjoy not so good for your foods, just in moderation. During this journey I never made any food 'off limits'.. I learned to balance the good with the bad and over time started to decide to no longer eat certain things because they were not all that appealing any more (i.e. I have not eaten at McDonalds in at least 3 years).
Anyways, just wanted to give a quick update for my 7 year surgery-versary... hope everybody is doing well !!
