Having an Upper GI
I had a upper GI before the surgery.
They give you a liquid (some say its like a chaulky liquid, it wasn't the best stuff I've tasted before, reminds me of the protein drinks i drank after that surgery when i would put too much powder in it.. ) and you drink sips so they can view as/how the liquid goes down. You will be on a table that moves you laying down, and then where your head is tilled down and different angles like that.

There is nothing to it really.
I had to have a upper endoscopy last month when the doc thought I may have a ulcer, that is when they put a scope down your throat with a light and camera (I was put to sleep for this procedure)
Good luck and keep us informed of how you are doing

I'm having a barium swallow in two weeks - just a check due to some chest pains I was having. I want to check my band is ok before going into cardiac check up mode. I had one after surgery and it was gross. It taste like lemon dishwashing liquid. The radiographer told me he tells kids its an 'atomic milkshake' to get them to drink it lol. Good luck
