kidney stones?

Okay, maybe I have missed the boat here... Does anyone else have a problem with kidney stones? I had them blasted twice before WLS, but now have a bunch again--probably going to go in again for Lithro. But, does anyone have info on more stones being associated with WLS?

No experience here with kidney stones. The only thing I've heard is that WLS patients need to be sure we are getting calcium citrate and not calcium carbonate because the latter can cause kidney stones. Something about not digesting properly due to WLS. But it sounds like you might be predisposed. Good luck!

Hi...Funny you ask that ..I JUST got over kidney stones.. OMG they hurt like crazy to...I had went to the ER with the pain and they said I had blood in my urine so referred me to a urologist....He took a cat scan and xray and said indeed they were stones....he also told me, that he sees a lot of woman who have had WLS come in! So, Im assumin he knew what he was talking about good luck with them, I know they are a pain !! Brooke

I started having pains last month....I went to my WL surgeon thinking it was a ulcer because...the pain was in my upper stomach area and mid back...and one day I threw up with some blood (yes scared the heck out of me). I went and had the scope down my throat into my stomach (got the pics of the inside of my stomach) done and it came back as no ulcers, that was done on a friday, saturday i passed a stone. The pain was terrible, hurt like hell, thought i was dying, worse than anything else i have had or had done, DID I mention the pain?? (I was scared and hurting badddddddddd). I was told by my nut to make sure I don't drink any tea, which i don't. But also drink water with lemon in it. And I have NEVER had a stone before WLS and I hope I don't get another one...once again IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!! so drink your water.
