Complaint of the day!
Tomorrow is my birthday (woo hoo!) and yesterday I decided I was heading to the mall to buy a new outfit for the big day. Pre-op a trip to the mall meant parking at the door closest to Lane Bryant... heading there, shopping and heading back out (unless shoes or accessories were needed). Well, the only thing I can purchase at Lane Bryant now is jeans (sz 14) which I was super happy about at first. After going to a few stores I found that I no longer know how to shop for my post WLS body. I am too small for Lane Bryant and too big still for most of the "normal" stores. I went to forever 21 and was excited to find I fit in their large top... well only the cotton ones that would stretch. Everything else squished my "girls" like unbelieveable! Dont skinny girls have boobs? I mean SHEESH! It wasnt the best shopping trip... I was disappointed to see many stores size large (and not even carrying XLs!) looked like something a kid would wear... since size 12 is now the "average woman" where the heck are these people shopping?? I find myself still sticking to the same stores Ive always shopped at... just moved into the non-plus dept - Old Navy, Target, Dots. I am only 27 and want to dress my age.... its hard to shop in the trendy stores because everything is so small... and now with summer comming its all spaghetti straps, sleeveless etc... no way am I letting the chicken wings flap in the wind!! I did go to Lane Bryant the day before and bought new jeans... they had so much cute stuff in there! I wish there was a Lane Bryant for non-plus sizes!!!
Good thing is I am more motivated now and ever to get to my goal weight so I can have an easier time shopping!!!
Happy birthday! Thats cool, mine is Sunday the 18th! day after yours.. and we had surgery the same day! i will be 25. i know EXACTLY what you mean about the stores.. I finally found some jeans at american eagle i can wear that look good. size 12 stretch hipsters.. try them on youd be suprised how well they fit actually.. when i held them up i said "yeah right" but i tried them on and was shocked. i went to the walmart clearance in juniors section last night and got a couple of shirts and sweaters .. i got junior size 15/17 and the sweater fits good.. the other shirts might be too big i havent tried them on yet. u might wanna try that out. Its weird going into lane bryant with my mom now and me feeling "out of place" and going into american eagle, and DEFINATELY Feeling like i shouldnt be in there with "those" girls who can wear their clothes! weird. hope you have a great bday!

Happy Birthday!
It is hard to find clothes period. I can wear all jeans size 14 and dress pants size 12. The tops are another issue! If it isn't a 'fat top', it isn't going to work. A fat top is tunic style and about 30 inches long. In regular sizes they do have tunic tops, but they are short! I need them long enough to cover my stuff...

I hear you Sistah!!!
I have been shopping in my "skinny" sisters closet for the past few weeks as she has a million pairs of size 12 pants. Now i have to say this dismays her, as she and my other sister pointed out " Heather your supposed to be the Big-Smart sister - Now that your not BIG the world balance is off" I laughed and thanked them.
But back to the mall - I have found that the big anchor stores like Macy's and Lord and Taylor have the best selection of clothes for those of us who don't want to dress like we are either 16 or 60. Regular price is high but the clearance sections usually will get you some FANTASTIC bargins ( Bandalino Jeans for $7!!!)
This is part of the journey - and even at goal weight we won't look good in everything so have fun trying different things and you might be surprised at what you look good in.
