Be honest..
I would like to honestly know if anyone else out there drinks with their food. I have tried not to and it's miserable. I don't drink a lot by any means, but a sip here and there while I"m eating. I feel so guilty when I do it, but I simply cannot "not" drink anything with my food. Not sure why ..
Does anybody else out there have this trouble, or am I the only whimp who can't give up the sipping with my meal. (Yes, I do know why I shouldn't.. it's not an education thing, it's something else... just can't swallow my food or feel good about eating unless I can have a sip of liquid here and there).
Thanks in advance,
Kim
I do not drink with my meals. I find that it makes me feel sick. I usually wait at least an hour and sometimes more. Sometimes I do take my supplements after a meal with a few sips of water.
I am sorry you are having a hard time with this. Sometimes I feel really thirsty and want something to drink but know that it will make my tummy hurt. So I guess I have a deterrent not to do it. Maybe you could play a game with yourself by saying I will wait 2 minutes for a sip and then increase the time. It might help you get used to it.
You seem to be doing good with your weightloss so maybe you are not overdoing it. Just keep an eye on it and don't let it get the best of you.

Kim,
I am being brutally honest here. I know all the reasons why I shouldn't drink with my meals but I do. Everytime. I follow every other part of the plan my dr has for me to the letter except for this. I can't eat without drinking something. I have tried and it makes me gag. So there you go..the world knows now. I do drink when I eat.

I asked my Nut about this and she said the main reason for not doing it is our malabsorption and that we need the food to pass without the liquid in order to get all of the nutrients. (Or something like that). She also said that in the event that the food is dry or I am having difficulty, a swallow or two is not going to hurt...and gave me a couple other ideas: fruit with the drier food, applesause, or other soft food to help with the dry food. I too have trouble without eating, although I work hard to not have it...usually a sip or two though.
Kim,
I admit that I also drink sometimes with meals, especially if the meal is dry or chewy. I also don't wait the 45 minutes before or the 2 hours after that I have read on the other boards. I have a hard enough time getting in fluid, that would mean I would never eat, or never drink (probably never drink, since I can't seem to stop eating).

Kim:
Don't feel guilty, we are all human and the drinking with meals is one habit that we grew up with. I knew that it would be very hard for me, but I did train myself , (bad girl, don't drink). What might help you and it did for me, have a sugar free ice popsicle and take a small bite of that. Like all other habits you can do it, but I know that it is a hard one.
