Embarrassing question

OK, this is embarrasing but I have to ask. Has anyone experienced any problems with hemroids? I am having lots of difficulties with this and wonder if it is "normal" for us. I think it is because I am on my feet more and more active: lifting, working, etc. In addition, perhaps our fiber limited diet... I just don't know. Just know I've never had them prior to this and now I am having "lots of trouble"...they are an awful malady to have. Oh well... Hope you are all doing well. I appreciate having y'all to talk with. Hi Cyndi, I never had a problem before surgery either,I had been having bowel issues, constipation to be exact, because of the straining,I came down with hemroids about 2 months ago and they are NASTY! I used Preparation H cream and they were gone in 3 days.I spoke to my Dr. about it and he advised me to take a stool softner and to up the fiber in my diet,(easier said than done) and to make sure I was getting my water in (which I get more than recomended so that was not the problem) I take 2 every evening before bed and never had isses with the Hemroids or constipation since,it took a good week for the softners to become effective.I buy them at Walmart in the generic brand they are very inexpensive. I asked the Dr. at the clinic if this was Normal and he said many people have this issue after GBS. Not to be gross but since we are on the subject I may as well ask............... has anyones bowels changed? I mean HUGE BM's! I don't eat that much yet it is like a huge TORPEDO! Ok I know "TMI"...............lol am I the only one? Cyndi talk to your Dr.first before trying them and ask if you can use the stool softners. They help big time! ((hugs)) Nancy

Nancy, You are so funny! There was a very active thread on constipation. I asked the question how could it be so huge, when I don't eat that much??? My comment was the last in the thread! I still would like to know how this happens! I seem to be having problems again. The only thing differet is that I have been taking iron. I feel 100% better now, exact this problem... Robin

Well, I can't comment too much on the hemorroids, I developed them during childbirth, and they never went away.....although they are giving me a little bit more grief though. I can however, completely relate to the Torpedo Turd thing. I just keep hoping it is the old me being flushed, quickly and permanently down the toilet. Is that even possible?!? Lori

Hi Cyndi, I have been having that problem too. I ask Dr Nighbert and he gave me a prescription med that is not habit forming, its a powder that you mix with crystal light or what ever you drink, it dosent taste bad either, works wonderful.

I had them when I was first post-op. I started adding benefiber to my diet and cut back on dairy (it causes a lot of ppl to have issues) and since then have been fine I dont use the benefiber now but eat a lot of fruits and veggies and it keeps it all good

Thanks all for your wonderful comments... I cannot eat any dairy, except some cheeses right now (only thing that makes me sick) so don't have to cut that out. I am working on the fiber - and upping the water. Prep H is my new best friend and also using the cream to help. Go figure...oh well! Thanks again everyone...and Torpedo Turd is a wonderful name for some of my BM lately. I seem to let out more than I take in.

No 'roids here. BUT I find that I pay way more attention to my bowel habits now. If I don't go every day I feel odd. I have to take a liquid iron supplement to get my iron where it should be and that has caused some "sluggish activity." What seems to help me is to avoid any refined carbs and remember that other than fruits and vegetables I need to add in some carbs consisting of whole grains. So sometimes I have a half to 3/4 of a sandwich made with Arnold's Health Nut bread. And/or I might have a slice of it toasted for breakfast with some coconut oil spread on it...which is a much better choice than butter. If all else fails and I feel like I really gotta get rid of some toxic waste......I eat a handful of Jelly Belly sugar free jelly beans....and then about an hour later....talk about torpedo! It's "bombs away!" and I'm a new woman again! Amy
