Getting down on myself
I have been in a really bad place lately. I have not been making good food choices. I have been eating lots of sugar and carbs. I think it all stems from my fathers death at the end of november and I am eating for comfort. I keep telling myself to make better choices and then I just give up. As of yesterday I am down 85 lbs. I would still like to lose another 30 or so by my one year mark. I also have not been exercising. I had my gallblader out on 12/26 and then had a minor complication so I am just now feeling better and not too sore to exercise. I am going to try to walk at least a mile on the treadmill tonight.
I really need to start writing down everything I eat and keep myself accountable. I will start right now.
Breakfast: Protien shake
Snack: protien bar
Lunch: 5 baked chicken nuggets, 3 tator tots, 3 mini pretzle bites, two pieces of chocolate candy.
Water only about 16oz so far. I am not doing well with my water intake.
Dinner: I plan on having 2ox of chicken, 1/4 or a sweet potatoe and 3 brussell sprouts.
I have been eating a lot of 100 calorie packs for desserts. They only have 100 calories but they are pure carbs. Better choices. Better choices, Better choices!
Sierra- Good for you for noticing your problem and knowing how to fix it. That is half the battle. You came to the right place for some support. Nancy has started the daily food log again for all of us since Ben is MIA. It is a good place to start. I am glad you are starting to feel better after your surgery last month. You cannot expect to be right back where you were before your surgery. You will need to build back up again. Hang in there and things will get better.

Sorry to hear you have been having a hard time I think a lot of us go thru the same thing as you. Food has always been a comfort and when you go thru a hard time you want what makes you feel better. Try not to get down on yourself. Its excellent that you are realizing whats happening. Try and make small goals for yourself to get back on track. Kinda like... this week I am going to focus on lowering the amount of carbs... give yourself at least a week to focus on this goal so if you have an off day you have a bunch of good days to congratulate yourself on. Then move on to the exercise and sugar. Actucally, exercise could be the best thing to start with because it releases endorphins and may help to get you feeling better
Those 100 calorie packs are tempting but I stay away from them because of, as you said, carbs. I try and keep some good snacks on hand. Last night I made a snack plate of carrots, cheese/trukey 'roni on crackers and some apple cinnamon soy crisps (they are SO freakin good!!!). I find not having the stuff around keeps me from eating it
Good luck to you and we are here if you need us!
Hey Sierra,
It's a hard time of year to be grieving. Don't be too hard on yourself. You are obviously being mindful of your food choices, maybe more than you might have been in the past. Stress will cause you to crave more carbs, even though what you need is more water and protein (this would be true even without WLS). Keep in touch with your support network, here and elsewhere.
Take good care of yourself. I'll be thinking of you and sending positive energy your way.
