surgery...
I went and had an ultrasound done this morning. My gall bladder is definately giving me problems...I haven't heard from doc yet, but will probably have to have it removed. I am going to try to wait until Christmas, but the pain is intense. Oh well, such is life. Has anyone had this surgery. Needless to say, I am scared. Don't do surgery well.
Cyndi,
I had my gallbladder taken out 7 years before my RNY. It was very quick and simple and I had 3 small incisions. I went home the next day. I can tell you this. The pain from the gallstones was the worst I have ever felt and after the surgery I felt so much better that the surgery itself was nothing. I hope you feel better soon and don't worry too much. It wasn't a big deal. I was just glad to get it out.

Hi Shannon
I also just found out that I need my gallbadder removed and have it sch for 1/4/07...I also know that if I eat something with a higher fat content that bothers me more so maybe try eating leaner food if you don't aready and maybe you can make it till the new year and then have the surgery

Hi Cyndi,
I am so sorry that you are going through this especially at this time of the year!urghhh....Sending prayers your way to get though this!!
I have not had my gall bladder removed but know of many who have and they say it is a blessing! the pain of surgery is not near that of a gall bladder attack.
Hon,after going through Gastric Bypass Surgery...you have nothing to worry about! this is nothing compared to that!! Think about it!
YOU ARE GOING TO BE JUST FINE!!
(((hugs)))

Hi Cindi,
Well that just sucks for you! I had my gall bladder out when I was 21. It was a full open (scar runs parallel to my RNY open scar), so I can't offer much wisdom since you will probably have lap. I do remember the pain quite vividly though, even though it was 21 years ago. All I can say, and others have already said it here, the pain of a gall bladder attack is worse than the surgery will be.You may be able to wait until after Christmas if your scan doesn't show a total blockage in the duct. I can't remember the name of it, but some procedure is supposed to help break up the stones, so they pass without pain.
On the upside, I've heard some people lose weight after this surgery . Obviously that wasn't my experience.
Best wishes to you, I hope you are feeling better soon. Maybe that nasty little stone will move on and leave you alone. So here is my wish for you to have no more attacks before your surgery.
