Ok, I am not going to take it personally that last week there was a poor showing on the Roll Call, I am going to blame it on the holiday. I know that all of you would love to share a little bit more about yourselves, lurkers too, especially since we didn't get to hear too much from you last week. 1) What is your favorite holiday show? 2) What are your goals for the new year? 3) Does your significant other help out around the house and if so what do you prefer them to do? (if you could choose) 4) What is the one food you feel "not guilty" treating yourself to since surgery? 5) What is your food weakness and does it make you sick now? 6) Do you exercise less now than just post surgery? 7) What was/is your one wow moment that you will never forget? My answers: 1) It would either be White Christmas, Meet Me in St. Louis or The Year Without a Santa Claus. I could watch these over and over and over. 2) Goals, wow, what was I thinking when I wrote this one? Well, let's see. Weight wise, I would love to get to my goal of 150, I am going to have to really step it up to get there. Career, well, it is really two-fold. I would like my home business to take off so that I don't have to go back to looking for work outside the home, but then again, I miss going to work, mostly the socialization. It is a little safer than working for myself, but isn't as rewarding. I also want to continue to work on my confidence. I am reading a book about it right now and it has helped me so much with everything in my life. 3) Yes and no. I do most of it now especially since I am home all day. He helps when I need him to. He is great to come in and organize things in a hurry where I will take a little longer. He is the bathroom guy though. I will maintain the bathroom, but he is the one to do the deep cleaning of it. 4) It used to be sf popsicles, but now it is lite cool whip with either sf jello or pudding. 5) CHOCOLATE!!!!! Yes and no, depends on how much I "treat" myself to. 6) No way, I exercise more and much more intensely, I am loving it!! 7) They are just recently actually. Today I went to the doctor, I have this nasty cold that is going around, anyway, they took my vitals and my blood pressure was 103/63. I was shocked, it is usually 120/80. I didn't think that I had anything to worry about, but the nurse said that it was so great. They kept having the nurses and doctors come in to see me. This is my PCP so I haven't seen them since a couple months before surgery. The other WOW moment was on Saturday. My sister and I went shopping and I thought that I would try on a shirt that was a 14/16. I wanted to see how far I needed to go until I fit in it. I tried it on and IT WAS BIG!!!! I couldn't believe it. I was so shocked. My sister was so funny, she said, "Well, duh, what did you think??" I tried to tell her that my mind hasn't caught up with my body yet. Ok, come one, come all, I would love to have my inbox overflowing with responses this week. We are all thankful for each other and what a great way to show it then to come out and share a little about you on the Roll Call each week. I love you all!!!!!!! Jeanna

Hey lady, I actually get to be the first response, imagine that!!!!!!!!!!1 1. Golly, I love all the holiday shows, but if I had to choose one...golly, this is hard, It's A Wonderful Life or Miracle on... 2. Goals of 2007: First of all I'd like to reach 150 lbs, 20 less than doctors goal, but one I'd like to get to. (That means I'm going to have to exercise more.) Next, I'd like to get my home in order as I have totally neglected it for the last year...actually, I've suffered depression since my mom's death in 2002 and really haven't taken interest in my home at all. Need to change that. That leads to my next goal...make my attitude/ outlook on life match my outward self...lose the negative, grab onto and celebrate the positive. 3. Norb helps around the house but not as much as I'd like him to. He is from an old farm family where if the house is picked up and clean, it's fine. He doesn't mind the clutter and mess. He is great about going downstairs and doing the laundry as he knows the stairs are a bugger on my arthritic knees and hips. 4. I try not to "treat" myself, but what I'm finding is that if I really, really want something then I take a bite of it and make it last. Today it was a Krispie Kream donut. I took a small bite and let it sit in my mouth. It took me longer to eat my one bite than it used to take me to eat the hole donut pre-op. 5. I am having trouble with MANY foods...I don't dump, but I get sick and it feels like a puppy is in my tummy trying to get out. Unfortunately, sugar and carbs are two foods that don't make me sick...go figure. I only take a bite, but still, others get sick when they eat sugar. OH WELL! 6. As a morbidly obese woman with arthritis in both knees, a hip, ankles, and fingers, exercise was very, very difficult. Now it is still difficult, but I am able to walk, climb stairs, dance with my first graders, play with my grandchildren and just be active. I am still not exercising like I need to - or want to. 7. My WOW moment happened just this morning. MY five year old granddaughter sat in my classroom watching me work as she was waiting for the breakfast bell at the school I teach at and she attends. Pretty soon I noticed she was studying me intently. finally I asked her what was wrong. She said, "Grandma you really have lost a lot of weight. Your legs are skinny." Then she proceeded to tell me that I was a "really hot grandma now". Gotta love those kids. HAPPY WEDNESDAY EVERYONE

Hello Jeanna! 1) What is your favorite holiday show? --- A Christmas Story 2) What are your goals for the new year? --- Stick to the rules, especially eating only at meal time. 3) Does your significant other help out around the house and if so what do you prefer them to do? (if you could choose) --- N/A 4) What is the one food you feel "not guilty" treating yourself to since surgery? --- I just feel guilty about amounts and not types. 5) What is your food weakness and does it make you sick now? --- Eggs. My favorite meal is the simple American breakfast: 2 eggs, hash browns, sausage and toast. Eggs are starting to make me sick. Darn it. 6) Do you exercise less now than just post surgery? --- I normally don't do well in the winter. I'm working on that. 7) What was/is your one wow moment that you will never forget? --- Luckily, there are so many. Each was special in its own way. The one that stands out, however is a month ago when I had to attend a function. I pulled out my best clothes and put them on. I looked like a hobo. I proceeded to empty out my closet and each set was too big--much too big. I smiled, got my wallet and went shopping. Have a nice day all! Ben

1) What is your favorite holiday show? A Christmas Story. Charlie Brown's Christmas. The Grinch. 2) What are your goals for the new year? Keep on keeping on. Getting under 300 pounds. Keep working the program. 3) Does your significant other help out around the house and if so what do you prefer them to do? (if you could choose). The wife and I are pretty good about sharing house duties. I wish she would take charge more often in the kitchen, but she's content to let me do most of the cooking. 4) What is the one food you feel "not guilty" treating yourself to since surgery? Popcorn. I make it on the stove using canola oil. It's WAY to many carbs, but so yummy and I figure what the heck. 5) What is your food weakness and does it make you sick now? Chocolate. I've been able to stay away totally. I'm treating it as a gateway food. 6) Do you exercise less now than just post surgery? So much more. I'll get to 80 miles eliptical/exercise bike this month in addition to lifting weights. 7) What was/is your one wow moment that you will never forget? Was: Co-worker yesterday couldn't keep up with me when we were walking to a meeting. I didn't realize that I was capable of walking faster than a thin person. Will be: When I finally get to go shopping for clothes at a non big and fat store or not in a big and fat section of the store.
