Hi Everyone! It is so great to be back with you all,I missed being here with you.I want to thank you all for your prayers through a very rough time,we survived and life is somewhat back to normal. I am struggling so much with lack of appetite.I have to force feed myself to eat and when I do I get so nauseous(sp) just smelling or looking at food.I would be so content to live on protein shakes, and stage one soft foods(I do get my protein in every day) I am honest with ya'all I am really scared,I know it is not a stricture because I have no problem keeping food down when I eat.Well most of it,I still have problems with some foods but that is normal. Is anyone else dealing with this? I want to call the clinic but I don't think it is a medical issue, what do you all think and what would you do? ((hugs)) Nancy

Hi Nancy, Glad you are back, I have not been wanting food either. I dont know about the wanting to vomit when you smell food, it wouldnt hurt to call the nut, see what he/she thinks then go from there as to talk to the Dr or not. Better to be safe. Did you have a good Thanksgiving? I hope so. I did. Be sure and let us know ok

Sorry to hear about your hard time. I would definately call the clinic for some advice. You said you dont think its a medical issue - do you think its mental? Maybe try finding a psych in your area that deals with EDs if thats your feeling. Im not dealing with this issue... Im actucally at the other end. I can eat whatever I want and have NO food intolerances. Im scared that I will fall into old habits because I do not have a hard time eating

Hello Nancy! Sorry to hear about your food issues. My issues are opposite. I feel I'm eating too much. I do have trouble with fats (in more than average amounts) but I don't have any problems otherwise. Take care Nancy. It is nice to see you on the board again. Ben

Nancy- So glad to see you back. I hope your home is now dry and secure. I am having the opposite problem. Rarely do I have a problem with any foods. I really snacked quite a bit this weekend on carbs. But today I am back on the treadmill and had a protein breakfast of egg and sausage. I would call the clinic. They just might have some good advice. They might even prescribe something for the nausea. You know you might just be suffering from stress from your house problems. MichiGirl

Hello Nancy, Love to have you back. Hope your Thanksgiving was a blessed one - and dry! I am having a mix of the problems from the board. Some days I cannot eat anything. I just don't want to eat...the thought makes me sick...and sometimes the food does too. Then on other days, I want to graze, graze, graze and am so afraid of falling back into bad habits. The worse thing is, is that the one food that I can trust to NOT hurt and to satisfy me are things like wheat thins, pretzel thins...carbs. aghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! On top of all of these food issues, the damp cold weather we are having in SD is playing havoc with my arthritis and I have not been exercising as much as I should. In fact, Sunday, I was so sore I wanted to cry. Oh well, if it doesn't get better, I would check with doc. You might have a food issue...kind of a type of WLS anorexia. Love you dear! Missed you much.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about your struggles with foods. It might still be worth getting checked for a stricture. You might have enough of a closure to slow the emptying of your stomach, and then things just sit like a rock unless they are soft or watery. I am like Jennifer and Ben (?Bennifer, haha) my appetite is strong and I am worried about getting on the eating train again. I can't relate to your situation at this point, but I can just imagine how discouraging and frustrating it must be. Keep your spirits up and congrats on getting in your protein in spite of it. Much love, Lori

Hey Nancy!!! I am so glad to see you back again. We really missed you. I hope that you had a blessed Thanksgiving. I wish I could help as well, but I am having a lot of funny problems lately. Most days I can eat and graze and graze and eat. That scares me, but lately, just since Thanksgiving, I am having problems anything more than maybe one meal a day. I eat a WLS "normal" amount and then just can't eat the rest of the day. I eat a meal around noon and then really don't feel like eating the rest of the day. My head says "Let's Eat", but my pouchie poo says "In your dreams sweethear!!" I wish I could find a happy medium right now. Please call the clinic if you haven't already. It is always better to be safe rather tahn sorry. Take care of you hon, if we were all there we would be we aren't so help us out and take care of yourself. ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) Jeanna

About two months after surgery I was getting sick from the smell of food. I could smell the flour in food and potatoe chips I could smell the oil. Fast food places were the worse, I could smell the old grease and processed foods. I never said anything I thought it was normal. Just thinking about certain food I would get sick and feel like I would throw up. It lasted daily for about 2 months, now its just here and there I smell food strongly.
