CT Scan
I went today for the CT scan for my blood in urine problem. I haven't seen any blood in my urine in over a week but that doesn't mean it isn't there.
This might be a little graphic. Caution if you get woozy.
The scan went pretty good. I got there and they took me back right away. A nurse had to start an IV on me for the contrast dye and it was pretty much a nightmare. I have lots of scarring in my veins from being a diabetic and having LOTS of blood tests over the years. She tried one spot on my right arm and got the needle in but not the tube that needs to go over it. She had me bleeding pretty good and kept having to wipe it up. Then she tried on the top of my left hand and managed to get it in. But not without blood everywhere again. I think she might need some more training because there should not be blood everywhere.
I was then sent right into the scanning room. I did not have to wait at any point today. There were 2 ladies there before me but they had to drink their contrast dye so had to wait for it to circulate. I do not think they were too happy that I got to go before them. They did not give me a gown or anything, I was just in my regular clothes. The scan guy asked me if I had metal in my pants which I did. So I had to drop my pants around my knees right in front of him and then lie on the table as he put a blanket on me. Kind of embarrassing but I am not too shy. Then I said I think my bra has metal. So I had to pull that up around my neck. I must have been a sight. I told them I had WLS and didn't know if I had metal staples in my stomach. They said no problem. So after sliding in and out of the scanning machine a few times I was done. I did have to hold my breath for quite a while and I didn't make it as long as they wanted. The scan must have come out OK or they would have made me do it again.
So all in all I am glad it is over. I was there a total of 45 minutes so that was fantastic for Kaiser. On the 24th I have the scope of my lower urinary tract. I am not looking forward to it.
