Where is the energy?
Hi, everyone! One of the main reasons I had this surgery was to have the energy to play with my kids. Frankly, I'm exhausted ALL the time. I take my vitamins and my bloodwork is OK... though my iron is low (so now I'm supplementing). Any ideas? Do you all have tons of energy? I feel like a slug! All I want to do is rest! What's up with that?
Traci
Hi Tracy!
Welcome to the June board!
Are you getting B-12 shots? if not mention this to your Dr.
The shots are the best,Dr.said the pills are basically useless and don't have the strength of the shot.
I get my shot every 3 months and by the last week of the 3rd month I am so plugged out it is horrible! within 1 day of the shot I am like a house on fire again.
also are you getting in all your protein, water etc....?
I would talk to your Dr. about it and see what he thinks.
Best of Luck and be sure to keep us updated on how you are doing!
((hugs))
Nancy
The pills are useless?! I didn't know that. I'm going to see my PCP this Friday. I'll ask him if he'll give me the shot. I'm sick of this lack of energy! I don't really know how much protein I get in a day. I guess I should be keeping track of that. I do get my water in most days, though. Thanks for the advice, Nancy.
Traci
Traci and all,
I forgot to mention to you,Your doctor can send you for a bloodwork test to see what your B-12 level is.You might want to ask him if he can order the test for you.
I have to travel 25 miles to the clinic for my shots and thought that I could maybe take the pills instead and I had asked both my pharmacist and Doctor about the pills and both had the same reply that the pills will not work for what we need after Bariatric surgery and they would do absolutely nothing to help, now every doc is differnt, since the clinic is a bariatric clinic with bariatric doctors and specialists, I take their word for it.
I get my shot every three months. There is a shot you can get once a month too,if your levels are low.
hope this helps!!
Let us know how you make out!
Nancy
I know how you feel. Part of mine is because I am going steady from 5:30 am to whenever I happen to get to bed - although lately 11 is as late as I can go. I am not use to being this tired. About 9 pm I start falling fast. I'm also finding myself wishing for a nap around 2. I've found that exercise helps. I have arthritis so this is hard for me to get in, but when i think I'm the most tired, I take a walk, go outside and move, or just do some stretching and it revitalizes me a bit. I think I'm going to have to check out Nancy's B12 shot, rather than the pill. Good luck, if it doesn't get any better call the doc. lol, Cyndi
My surgeon said for up to 6 months people can feel exhausted... its because your body hasnt adjusted to the surgery yet. I had surgery 2 days before you... I still have a hard time getting up in the morning... once I do I am fine until the afternoon... I "run out of gas" around 2-3pm every day. Now that its winter I am ready for bed at 8 at night... I have to force myself to stay up until 9. When I had my blood checked last month everything was *perfect*... surgeon said to just give it time. Ive resorted to drinking Tab Energy drinks in the afternoon to make it thru the day. No matter how good I eat, take vitamins, exercise it doesnt help this tiredness...I cant wait until it passes!
