Hey everyone. I'm completely freaking out. I had gastric bypass June 05' weighing 267. I had a blockage this summer so I couldn't eat very much so I went from around 192 to like 173 in about a month! So a few of those lbs came back on late summer. I withdrew from college in september because I was depressed and eating fast food and wayyy too much of it. I was eating and drinking at the same time therefore getting a lot of food in! And definetly was grazing all day long and skipping classes. So anyway i came home and i'm living at home with mom and dad and trying to do a lot better. But i went to my doctor's today and the scale said 190!!! Its been like 17 months since surgery and i only went from 267 to 190?? I'm still wearing size 12 pants. I mean granted I've been focused more on my weight the past couple weeks so its not magically going to disapear but i just get so hungry!!! Do u guys get hungry?? I mean if i have lunch at 12 I could def eat again at 1. Is that normal? How do i stop the hunger pains and the empty feeling? I just feel like I never should have had this surgery in the first place. I'm failing at it and it's bringing me down. I'm only 23 years old and I just want to be at my goal! (150) Help is appreciated

Hi Kristin! I am not sure if you maybe clicked on the wrong year for the june board,we all have just had surgery this past June and are only 5 months out,so I don't know if any of us can really realate to your problem at this early stage,But I am sure as I will give my advise others will jump in with theirs to help you best we can. First off, congratulations on your weight loss! I can see you have found where your problem lies and what you need to do in my personal opinion only is call your Nut or Dr. and make an appointment! write down everything you are eating don't skip one single thing, or their help will be useless, they need to know, even if you are cheating!! and go over everything with them and whatever they give you to do..DO IT!!!! I mean that in the nicest way! you have come soooooo far and worked hard to get where you are,you are not a failure, you can still do this!!! at first it may be hard, but think of what you are doing and why you had this surgery in the first place, and get yourself back on track, don't look back at the weight you put on,that is history!!look at the weight you are now,set goals and be determined to do this no matter what! you are worth it! Please come here and we can help get you through this, post your feelings like you did today and let us help! we are not pro's at this, as we are all in the learning stages but this is a good board to come to since you are going to start fresh, start it with us,I can tell you that this board is full of the GREATEST people you will come to know and you are welcome here anytime and hope that you will stay with us!!! forever! Please keep us updated! ((hugs)) Nancy

I am a o6, June bug so I really cannot relate. But I can say, don't stress. Were you lap, gny or what? Size 12 sounds really good. I would say that you need to take control of the eating - and that is hard. Thats why we are where we are. Keep your chin up and get the support you need.

I would start by going back to basics... sign up for a website like fitday.com to help you keep track of what you are eating. Call your NUT and set up an appointment so they can help you as well. Are you going to a support group? If not, start going back. You arnt failing... just falling back into old habits. Its EXCELLENT that you realize this and caught it early.. now its a matter of getting back on track. I am only 4 months out so havent gotten the hunger back but I know it will come. If you eat at 12 and are hungry again at 1 could be you are not eating enough, drinking and eating and the quality of what you eat. Heavier, fiberous foods will stay in the pouch longer vs something like soup.... the NUT can definately help you will all this and get you back on track!

Hi Kristin, I agree with the comments from the others, but I also wanted to add a word of caution about how you are defining your weight loss. I hope you are able to come to a place where you don't see yourself as failing. You have lost 77 lbs, that chances are you would'nt have, or if you are like me, your weight just would have continued creeping up. I know you are scared about what is happening with your weight loss, but honestly try and celebrate the improvements you have made. It is so easy when we are upset to give up on our positive food and health choices, or to start eating emotionally. It is so easy to sabatoge everything you are working hard for. As for the hunger part, mine is coming back somewhat. I find myself falling into old habits, and need to think "outloud" about what I am doing. Good luck on your continued journey. As Nancy said, you are always welcome on this board. This group is very supportive of one another. Lori

So far I can deal with hunger by sucking down lots of fluids, thereby having to wait another half hour to eat. Most of the time I'm not hungry anymore when that half hour is up. Best wishes to you, and realize that you have kept 77 pounds off. I'll bet that is as much or more as you ever lost before!
