I decided to take matters into my own hands and call about the referals my doctor made for the problem I am having with blood in my urine. I managed to schedule both the CT scan and the appt with the urologist. But get this. The appointments are far away. The CT scan is the 13th and the Uro is the 24th. The 24th???? I could be dead my then. I called my PCP and asked her to call me so I can whine about it and see if she can get me in earlier. Is this not something that needs to be taken care of right away? Maybe I am just being a baby. MichiGirl

Hon that is absoultey ridiculous!you are NOT being a baby, this is your body and your worried make your PCP aware of this she should be able to get it much sooner for you,be nice but be assertive about it almost demanding if you have too,if she can't I would not wait and go to the emergency room at the hospital where they will do all the tests that need to done right away,I am sure you most likely have a co-pay for the visit, but there is no amount of money that can be worth a piece of mind, see what she says and mention the emergency room and see what she has to say about it and take it from there,I am only saying what I would do. Be sure to update us! ((hugs)) Nancy

Awww, thats not good! Know what I have done in the past when my appointments are so far away....go to the emergency room at your hospital! Tell them you are in pain and scared. They can order the test right then and there! Be assertive! You're in my prayers! Keep us posted on the outcome and hang in there. Sending lots of love and hugs.

Hi Michigirl, I don't know how the system works in the US, but I'm with everyone else. We have to wait forever for specialist referrals. I work in healthcare, so shouldn't advocate going to the ER as a primary plan, but hell, when you need answers and none are coming, what's a girl to do? You are NOT a baby. Lori
