3 month check-up --stalling

Well, I had my 3 month check up last week and was not happy to see myself on the high end of my stall. I've been going up and down from 216 to 220 for what seems like a month. I'll have to check my journal to be sure. I know it's me - I've really increased my exercise and have kept up pretty well with my protein and water intake. Although my protein levels were a tad bit low on my labs. Any one have any suggestions for protein - something different - needs to be fairly portable if possible? Thanks.

For protein I like to eat Luna Bars or Detour Bars... luna is higher in sugar but detour has sugar alcohol in it (I handle sugar better than sugar alcohol). They both run around 180 calories and Luna has about 10g protein and detour has 15. Luna bar flavors I like is Lemon Zest, Duce De Leche and Chai Tea.... I like Detours pnut butter bars. Isopures protein drinks arnt too bad - I like grape...t hey are hard to handle the first few sips then are ok. Each bottle has 40g protein - I buy them at GNC... they are about $3 each so pricey but I drink half a bottle now and then if I need a protein boost. Tuna fish - very high in protein! There is a fat free tuna kit that comes with crackers and is premixed with the mayo and stuff. Soy Crisps - there are many brands and flavors from bbq, sea salt and vinegar to ranch. Wal Mart near me sells some made by Quaker. If I remember correctly its 7g protein for 18 crisps - they are like rice cakes... I usually eat around 9 at a time.

Hi Karen! I totally understand with the stalls! but they do break!!! Here are a few things that I found high in proteins I use: Pure Protein bars 20 gr protein and only ONE NETcarb, per bar I love the chocolate peanut butter I buy them at walmart Slim fast LOW CARB has 20 gr protien per shake and taste great walmart sells them the cheapest around $5.50 for 4 cans they only come in vanilla and creamy chocolate both taste great much better than any of the others they very smooth and are not gritty,I can't eat in the morning so I use one for breakfast every day. Check out the South Beach Diet meals and bars I don't have any on hand right now to give you the gram contents but are VERY high in protien. The one meal I had was a chicken with 3 cheese and broccolli and was somewhere around 26 to 27 grams per meal,I could not eat the entire meal so I did 1/2 for lucnh and the rest for dinner. They are very balanced and lot high in calories or carbs either. If you are a seafood lover of shellfish king crab legs, shrimp etc....are very high in protein you can add some of these to help, diet cheese,SF pudding made with skim milk,SF hot cholcolate made with skim milk, tomato soup made with skim milk (instead of water) Blue Bunny makes Carb control yogurt and smoothies now and have a good amount of protein in them compared the usual yogurts. The only place I seen that sells them is Walmart. Lean cuisine has low carb dinners too that are high in protien and very good. I hope that helps you a little bit! ((hugs)) Nancy

Thanks Jennifer and Nancy. I know I'm just going to have to start eating more -- problem is I have no desire. I did find some sirloin beef jerkey that is pretty tasty (I'm not a big jerkey fan). It has too much sodium but will be a nice change. My dd eats the south beach protein bars - I had one of those this weekend. Basically too sweet but I was able to force myself to take small bits and eat about 3/4 of it in about 30-40 minutes. Funny, I have some of those carb control slim fast in the outside freezer. Funny how you eat some of that stuff earlier on and you just get tired of it. Oh, well, back to basics for me! Thanks everyone.

hi karen, we have two things in common. we are both from texas. I'm from San Antonio. And I had my surgery on 6-21-06. I went from 283 to 241. I'm still praying that I loose alot more. I really wasn't happy with my weight either but my doctor insist that I am heading down the right path. Within one year I would like to be down to 150. I hope it is a realistic dream. Best wishes to you.

I'm right there with you - my ultimate goal is 150. My intermediate goal is under 200 by Christmas.

Hi Karen, I know I'm answering kind of late, but was reading your post and wanted to share a wonderful protein source I found. It is called New Whey Liquid Protein. It comes in a "virtually unbreakable container" that is like a vial with 2.9 fl. oz. of liquid. It packs in 25 grams of protein and has no carbs and no fat. Only 100 calories also. It comes in two flavors-raspberry swirl and fruit punch. (I only like the fruit punch) It is a life-saver for me, because I have a hard time stomaching most protein shakes. It is an aquired taste, but because there are only 2.9 oz, it only takes about 5 swallows and its gone. It is kind of pricey depending on where you purchase them, but the average price is $29.95 for 12 of them. Good luck!!

Thanks, Wendi. I tried the blue NeWhey and it was awful. Kinda made me nauseated. But if the fruit punch is better... I had fruit punch liquid protein from GNC and it wasn't aweful. Not great, but drinkable. Thanks for the suggestion! I was also thinking about trying that tasteless protein powder to add to foods.
