I just don't feel good

I'm tired and very grumpy. I almost always feel nauseated (lots of smells really set me off) and lightheaded. I also feel like I get a hard pulse throughout my body every few minutes and it's freaking me out. I did see my primary dr last week and they took me off my blood pressure medicine as mine was 100/60 and my pulse was 44. I am trying to get all of my protein with food (haven't been able to do a protein shake yet) and am taking 1 multivitamin a day. I do see my bariatic dr next week and the nut also. Has anyone else felt this way? Am I ok?

Keri, I'm sure you're okay, but I can't identify with how you're feeling. Really make sure you get some good answers from your doc next week. Any history of irregular heartbeat? Can't imagine what the "pulse" might be (other than a sub-par Michael Crighton novel). Keep the faith. -Daniel

HI Keri, Did your doc know about the lightheadedness last week when they discovered your BP was so low? The two can go together. It might be worth a return trip to your doc, just to make sure there isn't something else that can be done for you. No doubt you are tired, your BP and pulse are very low. I am only guessing here, and not a doc, but I wonder if the pulse thing might be made worse by your anxiety about what is going on. Otherwise, the pulsing (?palpitations?) can happen as a symptom of dumping, and dumping can happen with foods other than just sugar. Get yourself to the doctor and have a professional give you what you need to ease your mind. Take good care of yourself. I hope you are feeling better soon. Lori

Just to let you know....not sure if you had any blood work done yet but palpitations are a symptom of low potassium. Maybe you should have your levels checked if they continue.

I know all surgeons are different.. but mine requires 2 multivitamins a day, 2 calcium and Bcomplex. Are you taking a multivitamin that includes iron?? What is the issue with protein shakes?? If you are having a problem with them you may want to look into profect - they sell vials you can take in one swallow so its a good way to get in your protein!! The only time I havent felt good is if I eat not so good for me food. I ate a little buffalo chicken (it was breaded) and felt awful after. Anything too sugary or too fatty makes me feel down in the dumps! I started eating salad 3 weeks ago and I noticed a huge difference in the way I feel by getting all those xtra veggies in! Hope things get better for you!! :hugs:

I also take 2 multivitamins complete, 1500 mg calcium (6 chewables) and 500 mg B12 daily. I notice when I don't get my protein in or don't take my vitamins, I just don't feel great - low energy, blah attitude. If you are having problems with taste of protein shakes, go to www.baratriceating.com or some of the other websites. They sell sample of different protein shakes. I can't stomach any of the chocolate ones, but found Nectar Roadside Lemonade and love it. It is so different from the traditional shake. Not thick, gritty, anything.

Thanks so much everybody. I am feeling better today. I am trying very hard to get in all my protein and water and I think that has helped. I will definately talk to the dr next week. I am also looking into some more vitamins, alot of you have such great suggestions. Thank you so much. I'll keep updated on my progress. Oh and another lovely side effect. My hair has started to fall out . I will say that my 70 pound weight loss is worth it though. Keep up the good work everyone.
