Well, hi everyone! It's official! I have read all the recent posts, added my loss to Nancy's weight loss total, and finally realize that I have to be the slowest loser in the whole group of June babies! To date I have lost 37 pounds! Now, I'm not whining! I am glad to be down 37 pounds...but seriously folks...I did think it would be faster. I have a friend who is 15 months out and she lost way faster than I am. Frankly, she is annoying me right now...Calorie wise I am intaking around 500 calories on a good day. I think I need to up the exercise. Is that the secret? Just thinking out loud. Keep up the great work, everybody. Sher Lo 213/176/135

Sher hon there are a few things you need to consider, don't compare yourself to others, this is phycological warfare!I just looked at your numbers and you started as a light-weight and light weights do loose much slower than us that started as biggies!LOL...check the light weights board out with questions they can confirm. also your cal intake is pretty low, have you talked to you nut or Dr. about that? are you getting in at least 50 to 60 in protein? 50/60 seems to be a popular numbers so that is why I am using it. If you are not getting adequate protein that will slow you in weight loss as well, excercise is also VERY important,if you are doing a minimal amount just enough to get through you may want to start just adding a little more every week,I mean we can only do what we can do,but if you push for that little bit extra it will make a huge differnce. Sher one other thing to take into consideration with your weight loss is that our bodies are all differnt,we are proportioned differnt, height is a biggie too and our metabolisms as well. I do want to say congrats to you on your 37 pounds that is great! that is 37 pounds gone! you are 176 pounds? dang girl that is fabulous!!! you will loose it Sher if I can give my opinion here,I would talk to your nut and go over everything with her/him and take it from there, the only red flag I see is the low calories. I hope I have helped you feel a little better, hang in there,we are all here for each other to help, listen, and comfort when we need it! and vent,I understand venting really burns the cals!ROFL........ Be sure to let me know how things are going! (((hugs))) Nancy

Sher, I know how frustrating this can be, I have not been losing so quick. But I was told by my nutritionist that I must get in at least 600 calories a day. She found that people who were not getting in 600 calories a day we not losing as much weight. Good Luck, Elana

Do yourself a favor and think in terms of percentages! You want to lose 78lb, you've lost 37, that means you are 47% of the way there already!!! That's huge! And yes, exercising is key! Good Luck, Carolyn

Hi Sher, I am a slow looser to. I know how it feels to be compared to a fast looser. My sister had the surgery the same day as me. I have lost 47 pounds she has lost 70 -80 pounds. She dosent say now because she knows I havent lost as much as her and a member of our family said I must be sneeking candy bars....... since I am behind. This realy hurt my feelings, like I am going to go through this only to sneek a candy bar. I havent said anything about it because I want peace. I tell myself and it might work for you to, eating so few calories weight has to finally start coming off , any day now either of us might step on the scales and 10 pounds gone for good. I hope you fast weight loss Amy

I think I am a close 2nd to you!!! I had surgery 6/20/06 and am down 36lbs. There is a chart somewhere on here that will tell you what to expect in the way of weight loss and based on what my goal weight is I am right on track. Even thou I am a lightweight I still thought my weightloss would be a little better. I have upped my protein and lowered my calories starting a few weeks ago and finally started to lose everyweek... this week and last week I lost 2lbs each week which is AMAZING for me because usually I loose one week and not the next. Hopefully I will keep on this track. My NUT said for me to be between 800-1000 calories at this point... maybe you want to up yours some?? I usually stay around 800. I found that eating very light in the evenings helps me a lot... I love to snack in the evening and if I eat a big dinner and snacks I am loading up on calories at the end of the day!! My surgeon said I should lose between 10-15lbs a month, I am struggling to do 7-10 at this point so I feel your pain!!

Hi, I think you are right on track, I had my surgery 5 days after you (6/14/06) and I only lost 32lb to date. I know I lost inches have you measured your self? I was upset becuase I weight would not move, but then I stoped thinking about it every minute and found that the more relax I get the more pounds go down. 295/264/150

Hi Sher Lo, I couldn't agree with Nancy more, you will definitely lose slower than us heavy weights. In terms of percentage, I say someone say you had lost 47% of your weight. That is about how much I have lost as well, but I started at a higher number than you, so have more pounds to take off over the long run. My weight loss has really slowed dramatically in the past month, but I have been losing inches. I am assuming (hoping ) that my fat weight is converting to muscle mass. Stay strong and keep your chin up, you really are doing fantastically well. Lori
