Well, it happened to me tonight. I have had one other close call, but this time I lost it. I am not sure if it was because I tried new foods, ate to fast, or something didn't agree with me. I had 2 grilled skinless chicken legs, asparagus (new food), Heinz 57 (new food), and 2 forkfuls of my hubby's pasta and garlic sauce (new food). I started hurting and feeling so bad! I thought that I would be one of the lucky ones that this did not happen to. Has anyone else ever gotten sick? Is it safe to drink or have a protein shake? I am so thirsty! Robin

Hi Robin, I feel so bad for you. What a horrible feeling. I haven't thrown food up, but I have gotten pretty nauseas after eating too fast. I have to be really careful, and have learned to slow it down. My 1 major sick moment so far, was on skim milk. I had been drinking it every day for the first 6-weeks, but one evening I just wanted to get it down and go to bed, so I didn't chug, but drank it very fast. It took about an hour to hit me, but then I was in the bathroom for almost 3 hours! It was horrible, I almost wanted to go to the hospital, because it was painful and scary. Needless to say, I haven't had milk again, but I don't think it was actually the milk, but me just consuming it way too fast. I would think that if you are feeling okay, that sipping on a beverage or protein drink probably wouldn't hurt. Just sip slowly! Hope you are feeling better soon. Stacy

Robin, I wouldnt hesitate to do protein. You need that, and hopefully your pouch will handle it ok. the only think i have a problem with is roast beef, but fortunately havent barfed. you might try to limit new things to one at a time, and eat slowly. could have been the garlic sauce-if it was made with butter. you must get in liqiuds so you dont end up dehydrated. if you cannot handle them, i would call the dr. hope you feel better soon, teri

Hi Robin, I went through a nausea stage when I first went to regular foods.I got sick a couple of times but I found to be if I eat to fast or don't chew enough a lesson quickly learned! I found only try one new food at a time so if you get sick you know what it is from. It could have been the garlic sauce too much butter (greasey)?? the pasta may have been to heavy to eat along with the other foods too, even a small amount, remember pasta swells in the pouch. After being sick it is always a good idea to wait a good hour or two to let your pouch settle down before drinking or eating anything. That is the advise I got from my NUT. Nancy

I've only vomited twice. Once on eggs from the deli (still can't do those). Don't know what the problem was b/c I had eaten eggs once before. Second time, this week on beef and brocoli - again, had been eating it all week, last time didn't agree. Mostly I just get pain bad for an hour or so. I only try one new food at a time and then only one bite to see how it sets. I was also thinking that Heinz 57 might have sugar in it, or the garlic sauce might have had too much fat. Or both together was a double whammy. Hope you are feeling better now.

Hi Robin, I get sick quite often. I usually know within the first two minutes if somehting is not going to sit well in my pouch. I did have a stricture stretched, I don't know if it has returned or not, but I usually can only get in two small forkfuls of food at any one sitting, and I chew it to paste most of the time. Asapargus would probably kill me at this point, it seems high fibre things do not sit well. Sorry you had this experience. I bet it is okay to have your shake and any fluids you need. On days when my pouch is more sensitive, I go back to liquid or pureed consistencies. It sucks but keeps me nourished. Good luck. Lori
