How's everyone doing?

This board seems a little bit quiet. I really enjoy talking with people that have had surgery around the same time as me so we can share experiences. So, how is everyone doing? I'm working hard to get my protein and water in. Some days are good, some are bad. I've just rediscovered protein bars so that'll help up my protein. I'm really having to push myself to get 60 oz of water in. Anyone else having that problem? Been doing good on exercising -- even in this heat. Figured out how to journal last night. Photos next. So let me know how you are doing.

Been doing well!!!! Working as well on getting the protein and water in - I am good at the protein but the water is always a challenge!!! I can get in around 6 cups with no problem... just getting those xtra 2 in seems to be hard!!!! I also eat protein bars - love the Luna bars the best!! Lemon Zest and Carmel Choco Brownie are gooood... I also like the Detour bars - they have more protein but less vitamins than the luna bars. I usually eat them as lunch or eat 1/2 for a snack. Been trying to keep getting in my exercise as well - so much going on this week it has been hard... the heat is KILLER!!! I live in NC and it was 99 out yesterday!!!!!!!!!!! I had to run some errands and was BAKING in the car... it exhausted me so much I went to bed at 830!!! Otherwise been doing well... down 29lbs as of Tuesday... I am a slow loser but only have 73 more lbs to get to my goal!!!!

Glad to hear from you, Jennifer. I'm in Houston so I can totally agree on the heat. I'm not sure if there is humidity in NC like there is here, but when I do my walks, it's like cutting through a heat fog. I am so looking forward to winter! I'm able to get in a little more water using Crystal Lite. Actually, I probably wouldn't get much water in at all w/o i****er tastes like metal right now, so I have to have some flavor. I'll have to try the Luna bars - Lemon Zest sounds good. Where do you get them at?

WalMart and Target here both sell them. Target sells all the different protein bars individually so I went there to try them out to figure what I liked. Target here has luna bars on sale this week $4 a box... they are usually $5 and have 6 bars. Have you tried drinking the flavored water?? I LOVE dasanis grape... aquafina also makes flavors.... good stuff!

I found the Lemon Zest! I haven't tried it yet but was happy to find it while I was out looking for more calcium.

Like you, I'm trying to get enough protein and fluids in. But overall, I feel great. The surgery seems to have improved my mood and my outlook on life like nothing else has before. I am so hopeful for the future I've dreamed of now. It's reachable. That's the one thing friends and family have mentioned - how much happier I am. I have not been very good with the exercise and hope that reduced heat will make it easier. I wasn't good with it before the surgery so I'm going to have to make a commitment to it and follow through. Not an easy proposition for me. Namaste, Kim

I agree, Kim! Who wouldn't be happy with the weight loss! Although my kids tell me I'm crabby but it's really that they are lazy, not doing chores and I was around 3 weeks to get on their back! LOL! Keep up the good work and work on the exercising. I personally hate exercise but since I've been walking, I actually notice how much better I feel. Now, mind you, not while I'm actually walking but later and the next day. When I miss a day, I notice. And it seems to help with digestion - if I eat something too heavy.

I have had all kinds of exciting things happen lately and some learning experiences! I went back to work on July 26th. I have had a HUGE problem getting in my water. I drink about 32 oz at work. When I come home, I eat dinner and then have to wait for more water. I CAN'T gulp my water down like I used to, or it will hurt. I have been having 'bathroom' issues. I have been taking Dulcolax(docusate sodium 100mg). The doctor said it was because I wasn't drinking enough. Also, this all started when I got on solids. I hardly have any fat. I think it is time for me to go back to my nutritionist. I have never thrown-up. I have dumped only once. The best part? I am down 39#'s! Robin 274/235

Congrats, Robin!! Yeah, the water was really hard for me -even is still. I used to drink 100-120 oz presurgery. I have noticed in the last couple days that I was doing something close to gulping. At least I was taking several swallows at one time. Can't do it all the time but it's getting better. I got a lot down on Thursday while doing paperwork. Each time I picked up a new small stack of paperwork, I drank 2-3 swallows. I downed about 30 oz in the afternoon!! I've only thrown up once, but I've really wanted to a half dozen times. I'm having issues with carbs - really want them. I get home and eat 5 doritos and oh, the pain. Finally with my new protein bars, I've had a bite of those and didn't have the problems. Congrats on your weight loss!

Just noticing that there are a lot of june 20th babies out there. I am having troble with the protein and water also. I was just about to try protein bars, but I read a lot about them having too many carbs in them. But at the rate I am going, I need all of the protein I can get. I am only getting in about 30g a day and I think that is the reason I am not losing. I have only lost 2lbs in the last month. I am down a total of 30lbs, but I know it could be so much more if I could get in all of my protein and water. I have been trying to get to the pool to swim, but I find my stamina is still not that great. After about 15 min I am exhausted. I will keep trying
