Hi Brenda. My surgery was 6 weeks ago yesterday and I'm transitioning onto real food again. Very slowly and with some experimentation, but it's going pretty well. Is your doc telling you to stay on cream soups or are you not able to handle other foods? -Daniel

Hi Brenda, I am 6 weeks out as well and can pretty much eat anything I try. I just have to remember to actually eat three times a day or I get nauseated and start dry heaving. Still having a lot of trouble getting in all the liquids though. Karen

I am 6 weeks out as of today and have had no problems eating/drinking so far. Havent dumped or yet either. I have been able to eat a pretty good variety of food... not sure if that is a good thing or bad yet thou!!!!

I'm doing about the same as you 5 1/2 weeks out. I'm glad to be feeling good, but feel bad that so many people have so much trouble. The closest I've gotten to dumping was 2 or 3 episodes of instant diarrhea in the first 2 weeks after eating too quickly or too much carb. I'm realizing I will still have to be very careful about my intake. I was hoping to be more limited to make it easier not to over eat.

My Dr. started me on protein while still in the hospital, but I was in for over 17 days, and that was just the first time. A week later I was back again for another 9 days due to complications. So that being said, I was served a 1/4 c. serving of tuna salad, chicken salad and seafood salad and an egg with cheese for breakfast. It was a VERY small serving, but I had no trouble with anything. I can now eat just about anything, but I have not tried sugary anything yet. Mostly protein - starting to want some good veggies but I am told to wait 2 months out. Have you tried any protein shakes? Protein puddings? Dana P CW 225 lbs. Current 182 lbs.

I'm about a week after you and released to eat anything. Some food are just not working for me. It slowly gets better with time. When I try a new food, I try just one small bite and see how it goes before trying it again. Would that work for you?

Hi Brenda, My surgery was almost 2 weeks after yours. I'm doing fairly well with solids. I've even gotten a piece of bread down. My biggest problem is eating slowly. I get indigestion if I go too quickly. Have you talked to your surgeon about this? Namaste, Kim
