Hello Ladies:
I usually just read the post and pray for the cir****tances. I had my surgery on June 20 and to the day have lost 35 lbs. This is my problem and pray that there are others here that can understand where I am coming from. I try to get in my protein and don't always get in what I need. I am lucky to get 30 grams a day. My problem is, I am not wanting to eat anything and the things that I do try to eat, makes my stomach hurt and sometimes makes me sick. I am lucky to eat 4 oz. of food a day. It scares me because I know that I need to eat, I just can't. Also now when I swallow, I feel like there is something in my throat like a piece of hair or something and it makes it irriatating. Help please and let me know what you think. Any recipes or suggestions would be great appreciated.
Thanks,
Tammy Chisom
Have you called your doc? It's sounds like he needs to look around down there. The opening to your stomach may have adhesions (scar tissue) that are closing it up too much for your food to pass. It also could be what you are trying to eat. I was told today at my 1 month checkup, to try red meat again later because it has given me fits and hurting when I try to eat it. You may not like the choices of food given to you right now, but try to follow your schedule. Your doc or dietician know what is the best route for you. If nothing else drink you a low sugar, high protein drink to up your protein. Protein will give you energy and help your body heal itself.
I hope you feel better!!!

whoa you tried red meat already?
my doc said 6 months at the earliest since so many people have problems with it
I think I'm too scared to even try eek
and in reply to the original poster-
Ive been going through the same thing and I think what was happening to me was that I was getting more pains from not eating. So when I tried to take like one small bite ever hour or so...I seemed to feel better in general. I know we're not supposed to snack but I dont really see it that way... try string cheese, cottage cheese or even a bananna with some low fat peanut butter on it for some flavor.
Definitely talk to your doctor!
Have you tried protein drinks? I have to have one every morning or I won't make my 45 grams of protein. The type I have has 26 grams so it sounds like we may be eating about the same. I usually eat between a couple of bites of something dense (like tuna) to 1/2 cup of soup or cott. cheese and that's it. A couple of "meals" like those and I have no desire to eat any further for the day. I have a very limited number of foods I can eat that don't make my stomach hurt. I've tried a few more and usually if I try them a few weeks later, I'm able to tolerate them then. So for now, I'm just bored with the few choices I have. Of course, not really all that hungry so it hasn't be bad.
