What are other early Juners eating?
I had surgery 6/13 and am only allowed soft protein....no carbs nothing else..I have a shake in the morning, I am never hungry and if I get 300 calories a day it is a good day. I am learning to get the water in. The shake usually has a lot of protein so at least I gt a lot of protein.but I am able to eat about 1 ounce of protein once a day. I do not weight so I don;t know exaclty what my loss is. I try to get the protein , vitamins and water in

Hi Edyth -
It scares me a little that I already have days when I am physically hungry (not head hungry!). But, the last few weeks I have been exercising pretty hard and have been on the run a lot. A few days I calculated that I was taking in about 600 calories and my workout alone burned about 420. So, I guess it makes sense to be hungry?!
I'm glad that your are doing well with your program! Have any of your pre-surgery co-morbidities gotten better? How about clothes?
Keep it up!!! and Best wishes!!
Susan
This weekend when I was out of town I got adventurous - by necessity as well as boredom. I'm on the mushies. I tried the following (in tiny quantities, of course):
real turkey - 2 bites, fine
tomato - no skin, fine
pickle - no skin, fine
real chicken - thought I was going to die
taco meat (drained hamburger with refried beans and spice) - little uncomfortable but fine
Subway turkey sandwich - ONE bite of daughter's - just turkey and tiny bit of bread - fine and lasted for all of dinner
fritos - 5 - fine (that's bad)
today I forgot my lunch and had to go to the deli downstairs - my choices were salsbury steak or chicken/saus gumbo. I took a cup of gumbo, no rice. It was okay, I fished out the veggies and chicken. It was a little heavy on my tummy, but not very bad. Just ate about 1/3 of it and no saus.
I am 4 weeks out and getting all my water in, and sticking to the diet as closely as I can. I had pizza today, About 1/6th of a Crazy plates Roasted Vegetable pizza, Was good on the tummy but didn't like pizza as much as I used too. I am finding it toughest to rememeber to eat 6 times a day. I get about 3 small meals in. 1/2 the portion of my full soft diet sheet. I have had tuna, chicken (iffy depending on the day) tons of fruit, but I can' sometimes eat it one day and puke it right up the next. so we take that day by day too. I can't stand soup , or anything that was part of the last few weeks, and anything I do eat now is carefully chosen. My best friend asks me why i still take too much food on my plate because I know that I will never fini**** all but I explained that sometimes...I just have a feeling that one of the pieces of my dinner won't feel good, so I will just eat what i can tolerate and leave the rest, usually fill a slad plate and end up only eating about 1/6 of what is on there. spagetti....3 twirls of the fork, that was it, gave up on toast and peanut butter, now just have a tsp of PB on a spoon as a snack. discovered chapmans sugar free icecream treats, but they are so rich I am cutting them into thirds. My son loves it because i don't hastle him about eating my left overs, He is learning well from watching me eat. He is on normal portions but likes to watch what he is eating!
Susan,
I am 8 weeks out, have lost 27 pounds, am on a stall again. I am supposed to eat:
3 meals a day with 2-3 oz. of protein and 1oz of fruit or vege
Plus 1 protein shake w/ 8 oz 1% milk
AND a 4th "meal" w/ either 8 oz of 1%milk and 1 oz. fruit, or a 6 oz yogurt.
What I actually get in is more like:
The protein shake and 2 meals
plus 64-74 oz water
My daily calorie intake right now is between 340-550 calories. This is the best I can do right now. I really have no appetite and feel sick on most days with nausea, headache, and weakness.
How am I doing?
