I just started on the soft food stage, which for me means I can incorporate flaky fish. So I started off with a piece of salmon and some cooked veggies last night, and then again for lunch today. It was so great to be eating "food", and it tasted really good and didn't make me feel sick or anything, but I certainly didn't eat until I was full. I stopped eating last night and again today when my jaw got tired of chewing!! I am so afraid of swallowing a big piece of something, that I chew and chew. Anyone else tire out way before they are full? Maybe I am chewing too much? I hope that over time I get a little more relaxed about all of this. Stacy

I know how you feel Stacy. I try to space my eating out so that it lasts for 30 minutes and I chew until the food is mushy in my mouth. Maybe you should try 6 mini meals a day instead of 3 meals. That way maybe you won't get tired before your meal ends. Dianne

My NUT said at this early out to measure all my meals so they are 1/4th cup/3oz... I dont ever really feel "full" because I am eating so slowly. My NUT said its hard to tell if you are full or not this early out I dont really find myself getting tired of chewing thou!

I do....I get very tired of chewing especially chicken and turkey... it takes so long between bites for the food to settle into my stomach that I stop eating before i've had even 2 ounces of food. I usualy have six meals a day but I know i'm not eating enought.... forget drinking....I try to drink but i've gotta wait about 30-45 min. between eating just so I can drink without dumping..... also, I can't drink fast only small sips.... i'm six weeks out...I don't know If I am pushing it but it's not easy. nepo

I'm with you, Stacy. Sometimes it's so hard. My family looks at me weird.. My dd and I went to Subway and I took one formerly-normal sized bit of her sandwich. I ate that "bite" in 4 or 5 of my current sized bites and chewed and chewed. I was unsure about the bread. She was done with her whole sandwich and I was still chewing! It gets better in time - like working an old muscle that hasn't been exercised in a while.
