I'm a month out and I am getting tired of eating and drinking all the time. I'm supposed to be eating every 2-1/2 to 3 hours and then I have to get all these fluids in. In order to get all those fluids in, I have to do them whenever I'm not eating. I begining to feel like I have something in my mouth about 1 out of every 5 waking moments. Does anyone else get frustrated with this?

Karen, My doctor said to eat every 4-5 hours with liquids between. Maybe your interval between eating is too short. Re-check with your doctor. I am not having trouble getting the food and liquids in. Bob H.

I don't know if it's a DS thing but I can eat and drink at the same time . You could try adding a litltle variety or call your doctor and see what he/she says

I had surgery the same day as you The info my surgeon gave was to eat every two hours... when I saw my NUT she said to eat breakfast-snack-lunch-snack-dinner. I was sooo happy because eating every 2 hours you cannot get your fluids in if you have to stop eating/drinking a 1/2 hour before and 1/2 hour after. Maybe see if you can do something like that instead. Even eating like this I feel like all I do is eat - this morning I did NOT want breakfast... I usually do NOT want the afternoon snack but have to get my protein in. Heres my schedule 8a - breakfast 1030 snack 1230/1 lunch 4 snack 6/7 dinner

Actually I'm follow my doctor's orders saying to eat every 2.5-3 hours. currently, I try to eat as follows and I'm still not quite making the mark. There is not much time to add the fluids but I try to get his required 64 ounces - usually 3 20 oz bottles plus sips from bathroom cup, etc. 6:30 am Protein shake 11-12 1/2 c cottage cheese 2:30-3:30 something protein/small - string cheese, 1/2 c yogurt 7 pm dinner - more protein/varies

Karen C... I feel just like you do... First of all I know i'm not eating enough or drinking enough it is just soo time consuming... I'll try to eat yogurt or banana for breakfast...yogurt makes me sick so I eat the banana but it takes me about 1 hour to eat the entire thing..... I am so full afterwards...that I don't get around to drinking until two hours later.. then I drink about 1 cup of water and i'm full... I get home and at present meat or fish makes me sick...I am enjoying the Wendy's cesear side salad (little dressing) and I can almost eat all of it about 3/4...then i'm full again. I can't seem to get in all of the liquids or even more than about 500 calories a day... I dunno what to do.... So many different things are making me puke... I was lactose intolerant before the surgery and afterwards... The only good thing is though sugar doesn't make me dump...I ate a piece of chocolate and it didn't do nuttin to me. nepo

It amazes me that we all had WLS, but have all been told different things. I was advised not to do the protein shakes, et****il after my two month check up with the NUT. Instead I am to eat two ounces of protein, carbo, and fruit/vegetable at each meal: breakfast, lunch, supper. In between, I am to drink fluids: these are to include skim milk (Yuk), V-8 juice, fruit juice, but mostly H20. I still have trouble getting all of the fluids in. I don't know how you do it.
