I am having severe pain on my upper left side under my breast and rib cage. It has been going on all day long. It feels like spasms with sometimes sharp pain. I have not had a bowel movement today, but had one on Sunday. Could this be gas? I tried Gas X and Immodium and a pain pill but nothing is taking it away. It gets worse when a eat and drink anything. Help! Dana P PS call the surgeon nurse was not concerned. Told me to drink tea. Tried it and it helped none.

Dana, I'm not a doctor, but I would say you probably shouldn't taken Imodium. That will constipate you and I personally get way too much pressure (pain) when my bowels aren't moving. Your muscles around your port are healing and the sutures are settling. I would say that if your pain continues, to call back. I was told to use a heat pack to the site which really did help. Take things easy. Heather

Dana if you are in that much pain, call your surgeons office and you tell that nurse you need to see the doctor NOW.This is your body and you know what is right and what is not,I am tired of reading about these nurses in the doctors offices blowing things off like it is nothing,They are NURSES NOT DOCTORS (I don't speak for all nurses like this, just the Doctor wanabee's) you had major major surgery here, this is serious stuff!!!maybe it is nothing but it is better to be safe than sorry.I am sure your surgeon would agree! If she gives you a hard time, ask her who's body are we talking about yours or mine and also ask her who is paying for it? her? Go call now!! let us know how you make out,my prayers are with you!!! I had similar pain when I was about 2/12 to 3 weeks out (surgery was 6/15) when I took some Phillips MOM to help with BM also.. I was in alot of pain no matter how I moved or if I laid down. I also took some of the liquid pain killer they gave me. It helped some but this pain really didn't go away until two days later. I called the emergency room since my doctore was on vacation. The doc on call suggested to stop taking the PHillips MOM and rest also to sip some water slowly. I felt better after a few days and I stay away from PHillips. If you're pain doesn't cease make your way to the emergency room. Better safe than sorry. God Bless nepo
