Having difficulties losing!!! HELP!!
I am 5 weeks post op and last week I only lost 3 lbs. I am getting a bit depressed because I am not losing it as fast as I did a few weeks ago. Does this happen? I am eating right, drinking my water, but I am having difficulties drinking my protein shakes. I am trying to substitute it with foods high in protein. Any suggestions?

No suggestions but I have lots of sympathy. I have only lost 2lbs in the last week and a half. So I can really relate to what you are feeling. How can you eat 300-400 calories a day and not lose weight? I am trying to look on the bright side though. When was the time I lost 30lbs in 6 weeks? Never that is when. I know I will start losing again when my body is ready. So mean while I will keep up the good work. I know you can stay strong too.

From what I've read, it's very, very common to hit a stall around the 3 week mark. Your body is just putting the brakes on to try to readjust itself to this new way of living. My suggestion is to just keep on doing what you are supposed and you should start losing again very soon. At least you are better off than I am--I was rehospitalized due to dehydration and they pumped 6 pounds worth of fluid into me. My body is hanging onto that for dear life, so I actually gained 6 pounds last week. I know it will come off, but it is really, really discouraging to see that on the scale.
I've been stalling for a full week. I was stuck at 255 all last week which was my 4th week out. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to lose anymore and I started to question my food choices. So this morning I wake up and I'm 249! I was 255 yesterday! So it does come off. Just keep on keepin' on and make sure you sweat for at least 15 minutes/day. The only thing I did differently yesterday was walk around the mall about 4 times. I'm learning that exercise is key!
I think you also have to take into consideration that during the first 2 ot 3 weeks you are eating far fewer calories on a liquid diet and/or pureed diet. When you begin to start eating soft to solid foods you will take in more calories at the same time your body is wondering what the heck happened to the 2500 calories I use to get...so give your body a break as well as stop sweating the scale.
Eyeballing the scale will send you dictate your emotions and that's not cool.
When I made the decision to have this surgery I also took into account that fact that I will have to start eating healthier and choosing the right foods. I bought a couple of books which help guide me into the right eating habits. I can suggest to you.....
1- Dr. Phil the Ultimate Weight Solution
2 - Superfoods (two books)
3 - WLS for dummies (have great recipe suggestions)
Monitor your eating, get in the excercise, Water and vitamin supplements.....
establish a routine and be good to yourself.....If You focus on these things the scale won't be your object of your emotions....In the end you'll find that your are healthier, fit and losing tons of weight.
good luck

I've realized that the WLS for dummies book is a little hard to find especially when I went to the name brand book stores like Barnes & Nobles., STrand, Waldons....I ended up getting it from ebay.com
I know that if you purchase Unjury protein powder from their website they also offer the book... www.unjury.com
