Hey Jackie. I'm not hormonal, but I understand your being depressed in the first few days. The sooner you are able to get around, the better you will feel. It's a tough balance of seeing what you can do, and not doing too much. I'm still feeling that out myself.

Jackie, To be honest, TODAY was the first day I have felt almost normal. I had surgery 6/28 and just this last Wed. I started my protein shakes and mushies. After 2 days of getting some protein in I feel much better. (not a wet noodle!) I'm not out walking yet because its so darn hot in Lower Alabama. Doc was afraid of dehydration. I do plan to go when it gets dark tonite though. We had rain yesterday and its cooler today than its been in awhile. HOpe this helps and I pray you feel better soon! Magina

I found that I was a bit depressed too (surg 29/06/06) and water and protien fixed me, even just my broth and more salt. dropped juice and jello. mostly just drinking water and eating broth, but added yogurt if i get to weak. It will pass , but remember our bodies are all messed up.

Don't be depressed that you can't really do anything yet- you JUST had major surgery! Be good to your body and let it heal. Soon enough you will feel better, be stronger and have more energy, and then watch out- you'll be non-stop! And yes, the hormones do get out of wack... Very normal, it will pass Lisa

It is very normal feeling depressed. Could be hormonal - your body is going thru a lot of changes right now. Could also be the lack of eating. My friend said post-op she felt like her "best friend died" because she could no longer use food to medicate herself. Getting some exercise in helps release endorphins which should help some if you keep feeling depressed you may want to look into therapy with a therapist who specializes in ED. Also support groups are wonderful and you can make many new friends who "feel your pain!"
