What is everyone doing for exercise?
Your endurance will improve. Before WLS, I would do 30 minutes a day of strong walking. After surgery I could barely walk down my block. But I kept at it and slowly got stronger. Walk each day and just pu**** a little farther. You'll realise that your body will get stronger.
I am now back at 30 minutes building up my speed. I am close to pre-op levels but not just yet.
Good luck!

Hi,
I too had my surgery 6/14. I just started back at the gym this morning. I walked for a mile, not as fast as before but at a decent rate, then I did some light weight (seated stuff for my arms). My dr. told me to get in there and get active, just not to do anything that hurt. It took a while for me to feel like moving much at all, but I have tried to do between a 1/2 and mile a day since the day of my surgery. I hope you feel better soon!

I had surgery 6/26 and, like you, I'm still feeling pretty weak. I've just been walking around the house when it's hot or when cooler, I've been walking up and down the driveway. My surgeon's office told me that as long as I could get 30 minutes of walking in a day, I only have to wear the Ted hose at night. That is all the incentive I need! I can't do it all at once so I do 10 minutes in the morning, the afternoon, and the evening.
Being from Lower Alabama and considering the 100' temps, I'm walking the grocery store and WalMart isles!!! I talked to a lady about joining our community center today though and I can walk in the air conditioning everyday. Not to mention they have an area for work out machines too! But, thats for later!! I plan to look into it more next week.
I don't know how active you were before your surgery?? However I was just not. I've been handicapped for 10yrs. In an odd twist of fate, my surgeon found that adhesions were causing most of my issues and fixed them.
So far I haven't really exercised (Surgery 6/6/06) However I am scheduled to start physical therapy on Monday. I was afraid to just start exercising on my own after 10 years sitting still. I didn't want to end up with an injury when I should be on the road to health.
So if your still weak, maybe PT might be the way to go???

I had surgery 6/20. I had my two week follow up last thursday so with my surgeons blessing here is what I have been doing.
Arm Eercises - for the bat wings, every other day
Leg Exercises - on the days Im not doing arms
Yoga - saturday
40-60 mins cardo - a mix of treadmill/elliptical
Swimming - about 20 mins... like lounging better than doing laps!!!
Walking - I walk at work during my break - 15 mins twice a day, if its really nice out or I dont feel like the gym I will walk 30 mins.
