Problem with Gas
I had my surgery on 6/20 and I am having the same problem. I have heard that walking really helps, but it doesn't seem to be helping me. I have also tried gas x which worked a little bit. I have also read that sipping warm water helps, but I cant stand drinking warm water.
Good luck! and congrats on the 20 lbs
Ladies, I have major gas and my operation was June 12. It started the second day when I was allowed to drink liquids. I tried an isopure protien drink and the gas started like crazy. The biggest problem was that it wasn't escaping. My stomach felt, and looked like, and expanding baloon. I was actually worried that I would bust the staple line on my new pouch.
The nurse gave me gas x, but it didn't help. They kept telling me that walking would help. Well, I was already walking, and the gas just seeped out. And each time it did, it felt like more gas took it's place. It took a few days for me to pass all that gas. From then on, I have had gas from the second I wake up to bed time. I get up, I burp. I lay down, I fart.
I told my doctor and surgeon about it and they advise me to use gas x and stay away from certain foods.
So if you ladies find a cure, please let me know. I'm suffering big time.
Take care,
Ben
hey guys I know how you feel my surgery was6/30 and suffered awful, it sounded like my two dogs in my stomach fighting and growling. i noticed it was always after i tried my protein shake. I got some carnation instant breakfast to begin with , then tried slim fast new protein shake the same thing, talked to my doc which told me to go to GNC and get a powder based protien drink and to be sure to tell them that i was having trouble with milk right now,and may even be alittle lactose intolerant. she said i could be this way this week but be totally different next week. I have had no problems with gas since. And I am in no hurry to try milk or milk base products!! hope this works for everyone.

I had it really bad stuck in my shoulder on the 15th and 16th days. I walked my butt off and took gas-ex but nothing helped. So I finally gave in and took my liquid pain med from the hospital and that seemed to kill it.
I'm having that problem too. My nutritionist advised me yesterday to walk more and to introduce new foods slowly. The latter seems to be helping. I'm still on mostly liquids and am adding new things one or two a day. It's made it easier. I had such bad gas that I took my pain meds Wed. to ease the discomfort. Gas-X hasn't done much to help me. Congrats on the 20 lbs! I found out yesterday that I've lost 15. I am so excited and motivated.
Blessings,
Kim
Hey there Misty first off congrats on the weightloss. I had my surgery on 6/28 and like you and many others have had the SAME problem. I can't possible eat when I feel so full. It's a TERRIBLE feeling, I know. I called my surgeons office and they gave me the same answer.... Yes, that's normal and from the surgery make sure to walk more and told me if it was REALLY bad that it was ok to take gas x.
Well, my mom advised (and we know mothers know best) to have some chamomile and anis tea. I made it very strong little water for one tea bag and I tell you..... I felt so much better the next day. I was burping up a storm.... And literally felt my insides working a bit differently..... The name brand my hubby got me was BADIA - Chamomile and Anis caffine free tea. He bought it at our local CVS it was the only thing that was open that night.
Sure hope that helps Misty. Continued success and luck to you!!!
