Hi Everyone - I need your help/advise... Or has this happened to anyone??? I had my surgery on Wednesday and came home yesterday. All went very well in hospital. I was even able to keep down clear liquids etc.... Well today I had 2 oz of Nectar Protien drink, 3 oz of fat free yogurt and 3 oz of cream of chicken soup and lots of water in between..... I've had the runs twice today... Pure water.... It was nasty (so sorry to share). I feel good otherwise. I mean I'm walking around etc... Just have this really, and I mean really bloated feeling. Is this normal? I'm afraid to eat now. I think I'm just going to eat jello and clear broth. Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks everyone! Laura

I had horrible diarrhea the first couple of days home from the hospital, but it does get better. I actually went in my pants, and was completely horrified! Once my body seemed to work through that I haven't had any problems since, but boy was I concerned!! Bloated is normal, I am sure some is still from the surgery, and some from the new foods. Hope you are feeling better soon! Stacy

you might have lactose intolerance now.....i waited a over a week before i had anything other then the protein drinks to have any thing with dairy in it.....stop using dairy for a while and then start it up with small amounts at a time...gradualy add new dairy things as you tolerate it

Diareah after surgery is normal. Liquid in, liquid out. I'm still on clear liquids and have not had a solid BM since before surgery. The bloating is normal, too. Walking should help with that. Good luck to you. Cheri

Hi Laura, I had surgery on June 23rd and have had a TON of watery diereah. It is so unpleasant but I hear it gets better with increased 'solid' intake. I also had a problem with crystal light (the red raspberry) - I was drinking it and then went and had a big watery BM that was red-tinged. Apparently it was the crystal light. People on the main message board told me that this is normal - water in, water out. Now it alternates, today I have had fairly solid BMs but LOTS of gas (and ew does it stink! I knew that this was a side effect but boy - I'm glad nobody was in the room!) but yesterday I had watery diherea all day. Sorry if this is too much info but I am just trying to share my experience to help you out. Julia

Hi Laura, I felt the same way after surgery. It want to say it lasted a couple weeks, and then gradually went away, and stools got firmer. Bloated feeling is probably gas and that is quite normal after any surgery. Hope you feel better soon!
