My surgery was on the 9th, and at 12 days out, one of my incisions broke open completely (about one inch). I cleaned it with anti-bacterial soap and pulled it closed with 3 surgistrips and called my surgeon. He said to watch it for continued redness and to call immediately if it became warm to touch. It sounds like yours is infected! I would call my surgeon back right away. I hope you are okay. Please call your doctor again about this. Sher Lo

My large incision was sortof pulling and it hurt like hell. It wasn't red or swolen and I don't have the guts to touch it so I don't know if it's hard or not. But yesterday, I took some Benadryl and it miraculously stopped hurting. I don't know if it was a coincidence or if the Benadryl had something to do with it. I dunno, if it's red I would get it checked out immediately. That's just me tho. I hope you feel better!!

I had lap rny on 6/20. They put a clear bandage over all of my incisions and they all felt good for about a week and then the larger on on my left started to hurt. It got really hard and red. I called my surgeon and he told me to take off the bandage and see if it would drain. Boy did it ever. He put me on two antibiotics and the pain and redness has gone away. It still drains every day and I have to change the bandage about 5 times a day. I would definitely call your surgeon tomorrow and have them look at it. An infection can slow down your healing.

I had my surgery on the 21st. My lower, larger incision just above my belly button was the most sore but still tolerable. At my 1 week appointment the surgeon removed all the steri-strips and said that one was "soupy" and was red around it. The area of redness was about the size of a nickel and he said if it got any larger to call and they would order some oral antibiotic. The actual incision line was green with pus. YUCK. He said I could put a bandaid on it when wearing clothes so they wouldn't rub but only use a regular bandaid...he said not to do a dressing that would seal it off all the way around. And he said to let the air get to it. So I did that....I laid on my bed and exposed the area to the air and it felt much, much better. By the next day I had just the nickel sized redness and a line of dark red dried blood. It is still very tender but it is healing. He said that's where the camera goes in and it can be a little difficult to heal sometimes. Hope this helps! Amy
