Has anyone ordered a medic alert bracelet or pendant yet? I have only told 3 people about my surgery, and don't really want to advertise that I have a "condition", but I am almost afraid not to have one. What are you going to do? Just curious. Stacy

Hi Stacy, I have been thinking the same thing for two days now. I have looked at some of these with charms as opposed to the tag on hte bracelet. www.bodyilluminations.com They are more expensive but, look at what we have gone through.....we deserve it! Michele

Hi Stacy, My surgeon gave me a credit sized card to carry in my wallet. It has LapBand info on it and his cell number. Sharyn

Those charm bracelets are really cute. I'll definitely check those out. I have also seen another site that sells similar bracelets. I'll try to find that link and post it too. I also have a card that my surgeon gave me for my wallet, but I am afraid that if I were in an accident and unconscious that medics would act without looking for info in my wallet first. If you order directly from Medic Alert, you can create a detailed profile with them, and update it at anytime online. They put the Medic Alert phone number on the bracelet, and then medics just call that number, and can receive all of your medical history, doctor's name & number, list of medications, your emergency contact info, etc. It does also cost a membership of $30 or $35 a year, but I think it is worth it. Stacy, I haven't ordered one yet, but I definately intend to do so. I haven't told anyone about my surgery either, and really feel the same as you. However, I want to be responsible about this and in case of emergency, the best decision for us is to wear the id. The surgery was a difficult decision that we made to save our lives. We do not owe anyone an explanation for it, it was a private decision! But, we also stand together in our quest for healthy lives, and for me, the medic ID is a part of this choice. Sher Lo

Here's a link to some very stylish Medic Alert bracelets as well. Lauren's Hope Medical ID Bracelets www.laurenshope.com 1-800-360-8680 I think I am going to sign up through the Medic Alert website and pay the membership fee. Then, I will probably order a couple other "cuter" bracelets and have the same thing that Medic Alert inscribes on their bracelet on those. Stacy

I ordered mine through Lauren's Hope and I love it. I like to make jewelry, so I've made all sorts of gemstone bands for the ID. I wear it along with my watch and another bracelet of some sort and so far, no one has even noticed it. Okay, I admit, I'm a jewelry addict, but I figure it's a small price to pay for something that's brought me peace of mind. Edi

I was going to get a bracelet but my surgeon told me I didn't need one. So I keep his number with me and decided to forget about the bracelet. Carolyn

It never occured to me that I would need one. Is this just for lap-band or RNY too? Thanks, Kim
