LuAnne
I am out of the hospital as of Friday afternoon. I was scared when I woke up with tubes down my throat. It was due to some breathing problems and not waking up as fast as they would have liked. I am much better since I am home but find I miss food still. Is that normal? I am getting my protien down and water. I am very tired and feel washed out. I know with my medical history my surgery was even more complicated. I have Lupus ans have had so many surgeries the adhesions were a problem. At least my gallbladder which was causing problems is out now. My doctor was wonderful. I hope my strength will return soon. I have been bedridden for 4 years due to medical problems and look forward to getting up with therapy. I woke up questioning if I did the right thing, is that normal? Any good protien solutions for me? I can't get out so email friends would be great email address: [email protected]!
Hi Luanne,
I am glad with the scare that you made it through and are home, that means you are doing well! Even though you were bedridden for 4 years, before long you should be able to go out and enjoy life. That's why you did the surgery right? You did the right thing if it was right going in...
Keep posting - there is a lot of support here.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!!

Hi LuAnne - I bet that was scary waking up that way, but I'm glad you're on the loosing side now!! I hope that this surgery brings you the freedom you so deserve and brings you LIFE! Keep plugging away, day by day. I'm not sure on the protein - I haven't overhauled my taste buds yet (Friday is my day) so I'm not sure what tastes good post op, but keep looking and asking alot of people have great reccomendations.
Stick around and you'll glean alot of support from this site!! Both this board, the main board and perhaps even your state board, have you checked that forum out yet??
Good luck to you!!

Thank you Tin K for responding. It was scary but I am feeling better now. Today I finally felt a little like myself. I know the surgery is the right thing. If I ever want out of this bed I must lose some weight. Being stuck in bed also made it difficult to lose weight and having such limited mobility from the leg surgery was awful. I know with this weight loss I will be able to put weight on my bad leg (left leg kneee removed all metsal support removed due to infections so it is fusing naturally) and use my walker and wheelchair to start. I wish you luck with your surgery as it seems yu are ready for that? Chin up! Think how different our lives will be from now on. Here's to us!
