Everyone seems to have so much energy and are walk walk walking. I honestly am tired still and the last thing I want to do is walk for miles. I yawn all day long and take 2-3 hour naps everyday. I had my surgery on June 15th, shouldn't I be up and at it by now? Is anyone else feeling sluggish or tired 2 weeks post op?

I dip and rise with my energy levels. Just keep a regular exercise schedule and keep your fluids and protien up. And don't forget your vitamins. Remember, you are getting 1/3 (1/5 in my case) your normal calories. So your body is tired. But everyone tells me that a day will come where your body starts eating its own fat stores and you'll have energy to spare. I can't wait for that day. Good luck, Ben

Hey Holly, We both had surgery on the same day and I can honestly say that I start out with tons of energy. I take my vitamins and calcium in themorning. I do chores around the house but I sit in between to give myself some rest. Well, today I decided to go and pay some bills and take the long way where I would need to do some walking. I did the walking and felt pretty good at it. My heel didn't hurt, I felt light on my feet and I felt pretty good. I think I pushed it though when I got off of the bus coming back home I started moving really fast and boy oh boy I felt my side (of the surgery) go stiff...I had to slow down and take it easy for the rest of the night. Our energy levels will go up and down but make sure that you are getting in the vitamins, supplements and talk with your doctor about any unrealistic fatigue they will take your blood and make sure your levels are where they should be. hope this helps. nepo

Hey Holly, I had my surgery on the 15th as well. I am tired a lot as well. I just don't feel motivated to do anything but lay around and partly feel sorry for myself...the what have I done voices have been kicking in....but I try to kick them right back out. I have to have faith that this too shall pass. Good luck with your journey. Leigh

It will pass Leigh. My second day in the hospital I found myself staring in the mirror wondering what the heck I did to myself and the permanancy of it. I then reached into my bag and read my list of reasons for doing this. All became clear again. If you don't have the list yet, make it now. Take all the time you need. Ben

That would be me too. Today especially. I am sitting here thinking ok, just get up and go for a walk. Usually after a walk, even for 10 minutes I feel a little better. I have had lots of thoughts of what did I do to myself as well. I am trying not to take a nap everyday, but it is ok to do so. We all just had surgery we all need to heal. Each of us heals a little differently too. I would never have been able to walk the mall when I got home, as a matter of fact, I took a nap as soon as I got home from the hospital. Remember you don't have to walk for miles either. I started with several short little 5-10 minute walks. I had to hold on to my husband because I was so lightheaded. I can walk on my own now, but I still like to have someone walk with me just in case. You are doing great, keep remembering that. Jeanna

Hi Holly, I had my rny on the 20th....the 2nd day out of the hospital I felt pretty good. I even washed two light loads of clothes, but once I hit a week out, I seem to have run out of steam. I haven't had any pain meds since about 24 hours after surgery. But I haven't really found a way of sleeping that's really comfortable. I'm a stomach sleeper and my little pouch still seems too sensitive to lay on. So I think that's why I'm a little sluggish, need to get a really good nights rest, I think. Hang in there, each day gets better....we have to believe that it will. Just sip and rest and before you know it, you'll be running marathons. Hugs; Sherry
