Hi Nancy,
I write you from my hospital room. (I have wireless internet here!) I had open RNY on Wednesday. I feel "OK" but I'll second the kicked by a horse comment. I get to come home tomorrow.
I am curious since you say you are two weeks post-op.... how long did it take you to feel good? Does your belly still hurt? Do you have trouble bending? Does it still hurt to cough? Lots of questions, I know... I am axious to become my old feel-good self. Did your surgeon take your staples out at 2 weeks?
Thanks a million! Richard R. was next door to me at Hurley and he came home tonight. He's amazing!
Brandee
Thanks so much everyone for your kindeness and caring support!you will never know how much it means to me!!
Brandee I had my surgery Laproscopic so I had no stiches or drains, just steri strips.I had no pain with my surgery,I felt like I had pulled muscles in my tummy,I have a very high tolorance to pain,I have had 2 back surgeries and still deal with the pain every day,so I got to learn to live with it.The worse part for me was being tired, and of course...GAS...but that has subsided too.I was back to feeling like my old self in about 4 days.I am so full of energy now and very active.
Brandee I had open tummy surgery before and it is painful, but you will heal much faster if you walk, walk, walk,I felt better in about 7-10 days.I had my staples from that surgery out in about 10 days or so.
This may help you when you get home,if you have a body pillow, when you go to sleep lay on your side and tuck the body pillow under your tummy for support.
Brandee congratulations on making it to the other side! the next couple days will be rough but think of all the benefits that you will reap from this! hang in there hon and if you need me I am here you can email me at anytime,I will be glad to help answer any questions you may have!
God Bless!
Nancy
Nancy congrats!!!
Its strange, my 2nd week will be this Thursday, so this weekend was my first that I wasn't real uncomfortable from Post-op pains. I went and visited friends to socialize and do some board gaming. It was a blast, the only downer for the day was when it came time for the group munch, they all ordered pizza, and gosh was that tough!! I stuck with my Yogurt and water though!!
I don't have a scale at home, but I intend on going to a support meeting tomorrow night and they have scales there, so..
Good job!! and congrats about the medications!!
