Hey everyone, I was reading over the posts and the RNYs lose so much very quickly. I was just wondering about you lap banders. I was banded on June 1st and I haven't lost much since surgery--about 10-12 lbs. I lost great the first week and then the scales went up when I started on mushies. Now they are headed back down. It is weird--I am at the same place on the scales as I was two weeks ago. I have been walking 3 miles a day and I am not losing. I am really trying hard not to get discouraged, but if the weight doesn't start moving, I may call about getting my first fill early. I think I can eat too much before feeling full. I can't wait to hear how others are doing. Have a great day. Susan

Hi Susan, I'm also Susan!! I was banded on 6/9. My doctor has me on clear liquids and protein shakes for 3 weeks after surgery. I have lost 13 lbs so far. I'm hoping to lose another 10 before I start on the soft foods. (That may be too optimistic!) I haven't started excersing yet, but I plan on hitting the gym starting this weekend. I know this isn't what you want to hear (neither do I) but they say any weight loss before your first fill is considered a bonus. 10-12 lbs is a nice bonus! (I know, I know 20 - 30 lbs would be nicer!!!) How long did your doctor make you wait before you get a fill? I have to wait 6 weeks! What size band did you get? (I have the 10cc Vanguard) Just out of curiousity, about how much are you eating before you feel full? (Trying to gauge where I'll be when I start eating solids....) -Susan

Susan, I have to wait 6 weeks before a fill also. That may be the only standard post-op! I could start mushies after one week. I don't know what size band I got, I think it is the 4cc?? It varies how much I can eat. I am pretty much eating regular food now, and I can eat about 3/4 of a plain McDonalds (kid-size) burger. Yesterday, I made egg sandwiches for my kids and I ate about 3/4 of one. I think a lot of my problem now is snacking. I am going out to eat tonight to a Mexican restaurant. I plan to order off the kids menu--maybe an enchilada or something soft???? Take care and stay in touch. Susan

Hey Susan, Got home from hospital yesterday! More sore than I thought, but I'm thrilled to say the least! Trying to walk and drink lots of water! I heard also that the weight you lose before your fill is a bonus! You ARE doing great 3 miles a day is awesome so don't get discouraged! Are your clothes getting loose? You are probably losing inches! My angel told me she was really hungry before her fill and after she got more restriction the lbs came off! She is almost 2 yrs post-op and lost 75lbs. There are still a few things she can't eat but she mostly eats what she wants, just less of it! Keep in touch! AJ

I had surgery on the 19th and I am feeling better everyday. I am getting really bored with the full liquid stage and I'm counting the days until mushies!! I lost 15lbs pre-op so my goal is to try and maintain that until I get a fill. I know its going to be trying since I have 5 wks to go.
