Gym

I sit here postponing the inevitable....I promised myself today I would go to the local gym and get a membership(its a small privately owned gym). The problem is the longer I sit here the less I want to do it....those "pretty people staring at me" fears just keep me from gettign my butt up off this chair....Of course when I called some yound perky girl answered the phone and that made it even worse. UUGHHH

Melissa, I joined a gym a year ago and in the beginning it was a bit scary but realize that your doing this for yourself not for anyone else....and trust me not everyone in the gym has great bodies. I go in do my work out and leave, that is the point of the gym. When I joined the gym, I also joined with my best friend so it was more of incentive for me to go. Good Luck! Elana

Go ahead and do it-- Just imagaine all those "pretty people" faces staring at you as the weight drops off right before their eyes-- day after day-- week after week-- and month after month. I also guarantee you that if you talk to one of those pretty people you may find out they have not been very pretty all their life-- they may look one way now but you didnt see them when they first came in. They may be compassionate and understanding . I know-- I was 312 pounds this time last year-- I was 275 pre- op-- I was banded on 6-16-06 . I lost over 40 pounds in the gym with a trainer and i was nervous that everyone was looking at me and laughing and giggling-- but they werent-- they were helpful, and understanding and just like me-- unhappy with their bodies!!!!-- We all had similar goals and similar struggles. When i stopped comparing my self to them and started comparing me to me i was okay!!!!!!! I am down 10 pounds since my surgery and i cant wait to get back in the gym. Good luck Tina
