Hello folks! I had Lap-RNY June14th. 5 of my 6 lap holes were closed in surgery with steri-strips. The 6th had my JP drain in it and wasn't closed and bandaged till June 16th when I came home. Upon discharge my nurse said "trim steri-strips as needed". What does that mean? Mine look like they want to come off or they will come off with little effort but I don't want them to come off before they are suppose to. They are itching like crazy and I think I am scratching them in my sleep. Any advice? MsSmiles

Trim as needed would mean to trim off the parts that are no longer sticking down. Id call the Drs office and ask them. Mine gave instructions not to remove that they should just fall off *shrug*

No problem.....at all Felicia!! I was told if the strips come off not to worry about it. (I was told this by the surgeon's assistant the day after surgery. The stitches themselves are inside and the outer strips were put there to cover up right after surgery. If they are itching cut the ones that are peeling up. Those are probably the ones causing the itching to begin with. I still have all of my strips some are coming off some not. They don't bother me, but if they did I would do just as I advised you to do. Kayla

FYI I called my doctor's office today and his nurse said it was OK for me to take them of if they were bothering me. The wounds are scabbed over fine and I've been putting neosporin on them. Thanks for the advice!
