Hi guys. I had my surgery June 5th. Today is my last day of full liquids and then I'm supposed to start pureed (which on my dr's plan doesn't really add much other than pureed turkey and fat free refried beans). Anyway, I'm having a HARD time drinking and eating everything. I feel STUFFED! I dont know if my pouch just drains really slowly or what. I certainly haven't had enough of anything today, but have my water here and am sipping. Just wondering what your experiences are Lisa

I am still preop but have had to do a 2 week liquid diet and Ive had a hard time getting in the 6 shakes and 6 cups of water!!!! I cant imagine how I will be able to do it post-op. It seems like I am drinking alllll day long already!

Hi Lisa, I had read a post just like this on another board and the the reply was basically the same and makes sense. We have been on liquids and liquids empty the pouch quicker so some people never feel fullness until they go onto foods, that have substance and it fills you right up. So yes it is normal. At the clinic we were taught no drinking 1/2 hr.beore a meal ,during a meal, 1/2 hr after a meal. because of the too fullness thing. Makes sense to me!lol I start my first foods on Saturday week 3, I am able to add cottage cheese and eggs only and then week 4 I can add meats. Should be interesting! All in all Lisa sounds like you are doing good! Nancy

The reason no liquids with meals is so the liquids does not "swell" the food while it is in the pouch. This could be dangerous as you may get "over full"- Tina
