Pre Op Liquid Diet
I also had to do the 2 week pre-op liquids. I promise you that after the 3rd or 4th day, I began to feel much better. The head hunger and cravings got much easier to deal with and then pretty much went away. I tried a variety of protein samples just to change things up a bit. I don't know if you have a Smoothie King near you, but that was a big treat for me. I get a small (20oz) High Protein Almond Mocha smoothie made with Splenda (instead of the turbinado sugar they regularly use). It was 300 calories and 35 grams of protein. Such a treat! Also, like everyone else will tell you...keep reminding yourself of the reason...there is such a hugh reward at the end of your two weeks. I will also tell you that during my 2 weeks pre-op, I learned soooo much about myself mentally!!!! I realized that being hungry doesn't hurt!!! and that I can control food without food controlling me.!!
If you want to talk, feel free to email me! Oh, and one other benefit, every pound you lose before surgery is that much of a jump start!!!
Best of luck!
Susan
Hello Susan thank you so much for the uplift. Today I have to be honest I had a piece of cheese before dinner time. Even though I can have one meal at night, the mind play terrible tricks with me during the day. I will try the Smoothie King drink tomorrow. Thanks again and I appreciate your extended hand of friendship.
Hi,
I had to do a month of 2 liquid protein shakes/day and one meal prior to my lap band. I enjoyed the Slim-Fast Optimina shakes-ready-made. I liked the Milk Chocolate the best. They were good straight up or in blender with a little ice.
I also had some protein power which I added to weagh****chers vanilla yogurt, skim milk, and some fruit and a pack of splenda - then add a couple of cubes of ice in the blender. I was very good.
I think is all a head game. most days I was not hungry- except in my head!!!
Good luck you will be gald you did it when you have your surgery. Good luck!
Donna
Hello Donna thank you so much for the advice. I am trying like hell to get through these two weeks with much strenght as possible. I have tried the slim fast drinks but I prefer the adtkins drinks better (even though they are expensive) It is a head game because I just finish eating dinner (which I am allowed one meal at night) and my head is telling me I am still hungry but my stomach is full. I just pray and hope these next couple of days goes by very fast. (smile) Thanks again for the kind words and the wish of good luck.
