Im home safe and sound
Hello All!
Surgery was on June 9th in Phoenix Az. Surgery was right on schedule at 7:30am. I was talking to the anesthesiologist and the next thing I know I was in recovery.
I cannot lie, It did hurt. I wasnt breathing right because of the pain but soon got that under control.
I was in my room and awake by 2pm. at 4pm I was up walking. Be careful standing for the first time. It made me nausous. I sat down and took a few deep breaths and stood again and walked around the floor.
I was released at 11am yesterday (sunday). I had a 5 hour drive home. whew, that was a long one and I was so tired.
Im home now and able to sleep in my own bed. Get up when I want and im so much happier. I still feel pain on the left upper tummy where the stomach is but its normal.
I have pain meds to take every 4 to 6 hours. I dont always use them but its nice to know they are there.
Good luck to all. Im so excited for all of us!

Yea Sally! My surgery is 6/20 and I'm starting to feel the reality of the decision. I love to see the "just home from surgery" postings. I'm a very independent person, therefore, I am truly dreading the immobility issues. I'm going to a friend's house right after surgery, for about 3 days. After that I will be going home. My bedroom is on the second floor of a split level. Do you think I will have problems with stairs (about 7 steps)? All the best to you.
Welcome Home!!! I had my surgery on the 6th and I'm still feeling it. Knwo what you mean about being happy to be home though. Just makes all the difference in the world. Although I have to admit to not having as much space for walking. I have had a few minor issues that have reduced my walking here at home.. except for the "extra steps" by taking the long way to and from the bathroom etc. But they seem to be clearing up.
As far as stairs. I had an open procedure. I can make it now 6 days out up a full flight of 13 stairs and have been able to since Friday. It just takes TIME. Some times loads.
