June 9th - Tomorrow...what to tell a 6 year old?
I'm almost there!
Tomorrow I have to be at the hospital at 6:30am.
I got things in order. I made a Will and a Living Will...just to be on the safe side.
I have a 6 year old daughter and I don't want to tell he I'm going to the hospital, so her half-sisters are taking her to a sleep over.
Does any one have small kids and what did you tell them?
I hope to be home soon and to write of my experience.
Effi
I can't wait to hear your story Effi! I am not telling my kids anything this time around - mommy has to go away on business UNLESS something happens they will not know what I've done only because they have the biggest MOUTHS in the world!!! I don't want everyone and their grandma to know about my surgery so for now, I'm not telling.
Normally I discuss most everything with them - they're 6 and 7.. I did tell them about it when I was considering it a few months ago, I wanted to get their take on it.. that was enough. They won't be worse off if I don't tell. I may tell them later that my tummy's feeling sick, or whatever, and I've changed my diet because I want to loose weight, so for mommy that means I have to eat only small amounts and very healthy foods. Otherwise they'll probably be concerned that I'm not eating anymore! Or why I'm not eating what they are - though that's soon to change as well.. our whole family is going nutritious. If I can't have it, it's not going to be in this house! It's just what works for me, and I know everyone is going to be different.
Good luck to you!!!
I think I'll do the same. I told her I'm going to the doctor.
If I'm not home when she is brought back from the sleep over I'll ask my husband to tell her that I stayed for tests. She too has a big mouth and I haven't told that many people...so it's better that she doesn't know.
OK - it's midnight and I better go to sleep. The hospital called earlier to say that I should come earlier than I was told. I have to be there at 6am and th operation is at 7:30.
Thank you for the advice.
