I am scheduled for June 20, 2006 with Dr. Hong at Legacy Good Samaritan in Portland. My friend and I were able to get scheduled on the very same day both with Dr. Hong. Please help me know what to eat right after surgery, like the first week. I'm still a little confused on that..

Congratulations to you and your friend Terri!!!! That is really going to make your journey a lot of fun! As for your diet, this needs to come from your physician every weight loss clinic and/or program has their own guildlines as to the steps.I read somewhere here today that someone ate peanut butter at a couple days out !?!?!? at the weightloss clinic I go to peanut butter is a forbidden food (yes it has protein, but very high in fats and sugars) at ANY stage and beyond, now this persons Dr. may have told them that it is okay in their program. It is all differnt,PLEASE for YOUR safety be sure of what you can and cannot eat now,the last thing you don't want it to eat the wrong foods and stretch your pouch, have someone on another line pick up and listen to the call for anything you might miss,2 sets of ears can never hurt or ask for a written diet in the stages be mailed to you or if you are close that you can drop by and pick it up. Keep us updated!!! Nancy I am off to my sugery tomorrow!! I can't wait!

I am June 20th also!!!!! From what I know, just follow exactly what your doctor tells you to. You will do great!!! For me it still doesn't seem real, but I think on Monday when I have my last pre-op appt. it will. Good luck!!! Jeanna

Terri, congratulations on your date!! Having a friend to go through it with is awesome, I'm jealous!!! lol... how fun! As far as your diet - the second poster is right - you do need to see what your personal doctor and or nutritionist tell you to do. What I've come to realize about this though is that there are as many opinions on what you should and should not eat as there are doctors. Each doctor seems to do things just slightly different - as she was mentioning peanut butter - I'm allowed to eat it, so long as I choose natural (no sugar added). It has natural fats, not the bad ones, but I'm not supposed to eat a bunch, and it wasn't on my diet for early out. So... my plan?? I'm taking MOST of what my NUT said and using that as my life plan, BUT, when I'm further out I will make educated decisions of my own, and watch how it works for me. Everyone is different, and not every doctor has a perfect blueprint. That being said - I believe for maximum success in the honeymoon period you are best to follow their plan to the T!!! Make an appointment with the nutritionist and see if you can get a print out?? Mine will be giving me a very detailed menu for the first 12 weeks I believe. Maybe you and your friend could go together, that way you could both share the cost and the benefit, but also will be on the same page and able to support each other's efforts?? Just a thought!! Let us know, I'm interested in hearing how it goes!!! Good luck! K
