I have got to get on a diet. I have orders to lose 10-15 lbs before surgery and it's like I am trying to sabotage my surgery date and not lose the weight. It's crazy! Any ideas on a quick way to lose weight? Any advice? I keep putting the diet off and making excuses why I should start the next day! My date is June 14th.

Well I tried out the clear liqued diet to see how it was and I lost 10 lbs in a week. BUT you need to make sure you are getting in all your vitamins if you do this so you dont deplete you body of nutrients before surgery. WATER SF JELLO SF POPCICLES WATERMELON CANTELOPE CHICKEN BROTH CRYSTAL LIGHT I know that the watermelon and cantelope are not on the clear liqued diet but my sister told me that they are pretty much all water. If you cant stand the head hunger try adding salad and some steak towards the end of the day as something to look forward to. I even allowed myself mashed potatoes and garlic bread . AND still lost the 10 lbs. ALSO see if you can get in a small amount of exercise like walking for 15 - 20 min. or try doing some sit ups even if you cant do more then 10. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS. My lapband surgery is on the 19 of june and I want to lose some more weight too. GOODLUCK AND GODBLESS YOU.

Thank you so much for the post... I started the atkins/liquid diet on Sunday. So far so good. I dug in cabinet and found my one a day for weightloss that has some vitamins in them. You will be in my prayers! kayla

You drop weight very quickly in the first weeks on a very low carb diet (aka Atkins). I lost 9 or 10 lbs in the first 2 weeks. You could make it more by restricting calories more like the last poster with the liquids. Do take vitamins, because you won't get enough on the diet. Good luck! Caryl

I totally understand the plight - it's hard to work so hard towards our pre-op weight loss, when we know we can never eat such and such again, AND when we're thinking, it will be so much more effective to loose weight post-op, why KILL ourselves now!?!?! STILL... we all know it's the best thing for us, and I'm here to say, YOU CAN DO IT!! Start tomorrow (today probably when you read this). I'm going to do the liquid diet during the daytime and a reasonable meal at dinner. Perhaps it will be slimfast - otherwise I was thinking Carnation Instant Breakfast (since I really like that stuff anyhow). I'm having a hard time starting right now simply because I'm thinking my date is so far away!! I know in reality it's not, but I'm not sure if I'll sabatoge my post op dieting if I spend a month on liquids pre-op... won't I be MORE sick of it post op?? Maybe I'm just overanalyzing... maybe I should take one last stab at an Atkins diet... I dunno.. but I'm in the same boat, and I wanted to offer encouragement. You're Sooooo not alone... Hang in there and give it your all! It will make this experience that much better! K

My surgeon requires a 2 week liquid diet pre-op. In the first week, I have lost 14 lbs. I can have 1000 calories a day from: No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast (mixed with 8oz skim milk and 2 Tbls. dry milk) Protein shake (I use 1 scoop protein powder and 8 oz skim milk) SF Jello SF popsicles any no-cal liquids broth I usually have 4-5 protein shakes a day, some diet soda and maybe a popsicle( and LOTS of water). It has not been the easiest thing, but it is definitely do-able! I have played major mental games with myself, but have realized that I CAN! I wish you the best! Susan
