Surgery date June 9, 2006
I got my surgery date last Friday. Boy was that quick! I was expecting a July date. I'm really excited. I was going to have the RNY a couple of years ago, but my husband (okay, we're divorced now) convinced me to not do it. I should have been stronger and ignored his rants about it, but no use crying over spilled milk. Did I say that I'm very excited? I feel as if I'm getting a new lease on life. I'm planning to move to another state next year because I decided to go back to school and get the Ph.D. that I always wanted. I feel somewhat fearless. Like there's nothing I can't accomplish now.
Good for you. Sounds like you have lots of good goals. My aunt got her Ph.D when she was almost 60. I looked into the surgery a few years ago but my PCP at the time would not recommend me. Then I heard about Kaiser approving the surgery easily so changed my insurance to them and was put into their Options program right away. My dh is pretending that this surgery is not happening. He is very surgiphopic. (Hey I made up a word) He wants me to lose weight the old fashioned way. You would think after 11 years of marriage he would know I can't. So he doesn't talk about it and when I do I can tell his mind is wandering off somewhere else. I am going to ask him to come to my pre-op appt tomorrow so he can ask questions and hopefully feel better about they surgery.
