Got a date of June 9th. I have some pre-op tests, blood work, chest x-ray etc yet to do. I've been reading the messages and about special pre-op preparation people are asked to do. I wasn't told of anything else to prepare other than not smoking. I guess it's different with every doctor. I've bought one of those personal blenders (Magic Bullet), a yogurt maker...I'm ready! Now I'm contemplating if to buy protein shakes/supplements online (instead of the doctor's office). I've been reading that some people make their own protein shakes with Whey Protein or use a soy based protein shake (Revival Soy Shakes). So I don't know which is best. I have some fears: fear of pain post-op, complications, hunger, being nauseous, throwing up at work...but then I can't wait for the day my 5 year old daughter will stop calling me FAT! :-D

Sounds like you are getting well prepared. I was thinking of buying one of those stick blenders that has a few chopping attachments. I have some amazon.com bucks to spend. My nutritionist told us not to use soy protein but I really can't remember why. Something about whey being better or the soy not digesting as well. Maybe you should ask your NUT. I am right with you on the fears. Michelle in SoCal

Take a look at the Magic Bullet - it's like a blender and food processor and juice extractor in one. Though a stick blender always comes in handy. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CCM6OO/ref=cm_taf_asin_title_cs/104-5401955-4379122?n=284507 The nutritionist was pushing the shakes they sell at the doctors office. I asked if there is nything else cheaper yet she still recommended what they sell.... I guess that's my only complaint about the clinic - seems like a very commercial operation. I felt like I was in an assembly line. That said - the Doctor her self is great. Effi

They sell shakes at my place too. But some of the people in my class compared them to something they sell at Walmart and said the ingredients were almost identical and the price was only 1/3 of their shakes. I am not exactly sure what the shakes at Walmart are though. I know it came in a box with individual envelopes for each shake. I keep meaning to look but only get to Walmart once every month or so. I looked at the Magic Bullet but am a little worried about all the pieces. I tend to lose things and am not fond of washing little parts. Translated I am lazy. Michelle in SoCal
