Topic: Anyone struggling????
Hello all of my Junebugs!  Just a quick check in to see if there's anyone else besides me that is struggling with weight gain.  I'm so very, VERY frustrated with myself.  I swore to never allow this to happen again.

I could use some support if anyone could spare some.  Also, I'm really looking for an accountability buddy if anyone is interested.

Hope you are all doing well and won't need any support!!

Hugs,
Kerri

fortunately - i am doing really well - i went to see a local gastric bypass surgeon for a three year check up - he was going to get my records from california - but said that all stats were excellent and from what i shared everything sounded very normal and very well under control -

he said most of my fears are mental, because i still see the same shape as before - granted smaller but the same shape

It is my understanding that you cannot stretch your pouch.  However you can stretch your stoma (opening to the intestine).  That will cause your pouch to empty quicker and therefore you are hungry sooner and eat more.  If you strech your stoma it will not shrink back.  Most people gain weight because they stop treating the rules as a lifestyle.

Hope that helped

Hi - I had my surgery on June 8, 2005.  I am doing really well - so others say - but I just see the same old shape.

My new job doesn’t offer weight loss surgery or the corrective surgeries to remove the excess skin.  So I have the same rolls around my midsection that I had before the surgery.  They just don’t measure as big as they did.

The hard part for me is I see the same exact body I saw on June 7th of 2005 TODAY!

ALL IN ALL I LOVE IT – DON’T GET ME WRONG

I started at 250 and am now at 148.  I can not complain – BUT I can vent.  LOL

Have a great day!

Nikki

I am 3+ years post op - I was doing really well in maintaining a 140ish weight from 250 in 2005.

I have a lot of friends and now have read of a lot of others who have had the problem of weight gain around this time post op and well I am worried that I am on the way to that road.

If you for some reason are able to stretch out your stomach - is it possible for it to shrink again - or is it just stretched permanently.

Looking forward to input and help in avoiding the stretching it out to begin with.

When you say in your post that you have fallen back in to old eating habits, what specifically do you mean? I only ask b/c if you can eat a lot more than you used to, you might have stretched the pouch, so you will regain some weight over time b/c you can eat more. I am 3+ yrs out of surgery and I regained 13 lbs from birth control and I knew it was b/c of it and not stretching my pouch b/c I still only eat small portions as I always did. I have a physical job so that is my exercise. My advice is to contact your dr. or even your surgeon to see if they can test you to see if it is indeed stretched, which can lead to a revision surgery.

Hey Lisa,

Boy do I need to join you...I thought all the month of December about what my plan was going to be to get back into my "comfort" zone...I've gained 11 lbs from my preferred weight of 125 and at 136 I'm 6 over the "high-end" number I told myself I would never surpass and yet I did last x-mas when I topped into the 133-136 range daily...I've never recovered myself...Its my own fault, I seem to have let the complacency set in and managed to tell myself that this was just "normal re-bounce", afterall my clothes all still fit fine...But, really, I'm not fine with it and need to do something about it...

So, having blathered on, my plan is to keep my carbs at 1/2 my total protein intake and nip the occasional grazing in the bud, as a minimum, until I see the underside of 130 and hopefully back to 125...

I have faced my demon and I am on board with you...please come back an post to let me know how you are doing, I will be checking this board to see...

Thanks and best wishes towards your goal...

Alesia

I'm another who had my surgery June 2005 -- June 13, to be exact -- who is frustrated with her progress.  Or should I say LACK of progress!!  I did so well at first.  Weight the day of surgery was 350.  Got down to 220.  Have gained back about 40.  Can't get it to budge.  When I was losing consistently, I was able to get to support groups, was able to get out to exercise, and was faithful to my eating plan.  Now due to my work schedule, it's impossible to get to a support group meeting.  I haven't had a car for 6 months, so can't get to the gym.  And I've fallen squarely back in to old eating habits.  I'm soooooooooooo frustrated with myself I can't stand it!!!  Any ideas and any support -- including solid kicks in the pants -- are welcome!!!
