Topic: Sad news for me...
Hi Everyone~ I don't even know if anyone is out here still on our Junebug board, but you guys have been such an enormous support system for me, I had to try.
3 days ago, while finishing a 5 week vacation at my parents house in Oregon, we got news that my dad has lymphoma. He had a tumor taken off of the top of his head that his primary care doc misdiagnosed as a "wen", but when opened up, was a tumor. He then was sent to a reg. surgeon who told us, upon removal, that he was 95% sure it was nothing to worry about, he didn't believe it was cancer.
Long and short of it, they were all wrong. It is cancer~ to what extent and location/s we're not sure. It's just ironic because I had extended my vacation ( first two weeks were with DH) because of health issues for my mom. Never did it occur to us that my dad's life would change forever.
Just needed to share... anyone out there have experience with this? I've done some internet research, but won't know a lot until further testing is done.
Hope everyone is healthy and happy. I'm personally still trying to get back off those 10 "bounce back" lbs.
Thanks to all of you for listening~
Hugs,
Kerri

Glad everyone is doing well... I did well w/ weight loss till this year when I fell sick and put on steroids...now I gotta fight to lose the 40 lbs I gained and the rest I still had to lose... I had a lot more to lose than most though.

No, I had RNY and have had great results. But I am sorry that you are going through this. You may want to try posting this on the lap-band forum, you might get some valuable info there. I hope you are able to get some help and good advice.
Good Luck

Topic: June was two years & no luck
High, I had my lap band in june 2005. The first six months went well. I have had problems ever since. Went back in January this year and got my band filled. Then I had to go back a few weeks later and they took some liquid out.
I cannot lose weight. I cannot hardly eat anything and now I through up and hurt a lot.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Doris

I am still losing right now but only because I am on the South Beach Diet plan, I had reached my surgeons goal of 153 lbs but gained back 13 lbs, now I am down to 161 and hoping to reach that goal again, even pass it but we will see...

I've been away for a while...I was losing great up to the year mark..and then slowed after... my doc told me that was expected... but then I went thru some things and illness and they put me on steroids and I've gained some weight back.. now I am trying to get back on track...but it's hard.. the doc had put me on appetite suppressants( to speed up my metobolism) but I really feel like they were worse for me than better and now I'm trying to do it w/o that help... I actually thought I was beyond mental eating..but w/ all the illness..despite the steroids putting weight on me..I think the emotional stuff did to...
I'm feeling much better now..but have a lot of work to go.. still

I just started losing again recently. 5 lbs. It is good because I think I could use a few more off to be happy.

Hi I had RNY when I was almost 57. I weighed 350 at one time & 330 the day of surgery. This am I weighed 174. I no longer need meds for diabetes & have increased my mobility. I had some serious complications at first & for the first 2 months I was miserable & had major regrets! Today I am happy that I had the surgery. I believe everyone has to weigh the benefits against the risks & make an informed decision. You're going the right direction by asking questions on this site. There's a lot to be learned here. Best of luck with whatever path you choose.
